CountrySteve21
Whats you alls favorite Bible translation and why? Personally mine is the Revised Standard Version and the Douay-Rheims
corban711
Ignatius Bible (Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition) is easily my favorite. I had been using the same Ignatius Bible for nearly 15 years (the one with the blue cover) and recently switched to their newer edition. It is more readable and the layout is even better but I miss all my old highlights and notes.
beatitude
I like the RSV too.
Seven77
Revised standard version, Catholic addition, for sure. The language is more dignified and readable than most versions.
brandelynmarie
I've been using a New Jerusalem edition since the 90's & I'm used to the way it uses language. I like Douay-Rheims because it seems to be a closer translation of the original languages, but I find some of it slightly awkward, although infinitely more poetic... PhuturePriest
Well thanks for that. Ever since I got my HDR (Haydock Douay-Rheims) Bible, I've never felt a need to use any other version. I also have a pocket DR for traveling. My first Bible was an NAB, but after getting a Douay-Rheims, I just can't stand the NAB anymore. It's far too inaccurate and liberal with its language. I'll take accuracy over "readability" any day, though I contest the idea that the Douay-Rheims is hard to read. I find it easier to understand than the NAB, actually. Not The Philosopher
If I feel like keeping my Latin dictionary close at hand, it's Vulgate 100% baby. If I am feeling more lazy (which is most of the time), the RSV is pretty solid.
chrysostom
DR but I don't own a hard copy yet, I still only have my old ESV (more or less like the RSV) with the deuterocanonical books missing. I need to fix that soon.

PhuturePriest
Already done, I mean something on paper born out of tree killing. What I would buy if I were a super rich person is a traditional hardback Bible made out of sheep skin.
