Cherie
Have any of you tried the Mystic Monk coffees? Are they actually good? "Good" as in "actually good," not "good because they're Catholic monks and we're supporting them so even if it tastes terrible I'm still going to say it's good." I'm just curious. I've never tried their coffees, but I'm wanting to. It would be nice to support a good cause while also supporting my coffee habit, you know? Credo in Deum
Mystic Monk coffee is the bees knees and is really the only coffee I drink. As my priest puts it: "Mystic Monk Coffee; a worthy alternative." He says this since we live in Seattle and a ton of Catholics drink Starbucks. Starbucks as we all know supports abortion and other ideals that are opposed to our Catholic faith. My favorites are: Carmel Royal Rum Pecan Breakfast Blend Hazelnut Chocolate Mint Pumpkin Spice
veritasluxmea
Starbucks as we all know supports abortion and other ideals that are opposed to our Catholic faith. I work for Starbucks. Off topic, but in Arizona state they will cover the last two years of your college tuition.
Basilisa Marie
Starbucks harvests their beans later and burns the croutons out of them, you need all that milk and syrup to make the coffee tolerable. <-- coffee snob. (It doesn't stop me from drinking a peppermint white mocha though, mmmmmm) I think Mystic Monk is better than Starbucks, I'm not sure where they get their beans though. They've got a nice variety of flavors. Stumptown's my favorite, if that says anything. Edited August 23, 2014 by Basilisa Marie

Nothing against you, but I'm not a fan of Starbucks. I've actually wanted to start my own coffee shop, however, I do not have the funds. Mine would be closed on Sundays and all holy days of obligation. Ok. Back to Mystic Monks. :)

If anything ever comes of it, mind you give me your address so I can show up on your doorstep with celebratory beer.

The only reason it sells is because people these days put two pounds of cream and sugar in their coffee. I drink coffee with nothing in it like God intended, so I need the flavor to stand on its own. I put a tablespoon of milk in mine. I frankly don't see the appeal of sugar in coffee, though, because with even the slightest amount of it, it overpowers the taste of the coffee. It's like the coffee is an excuse to drink sugar. :P
puellapaschalis
This sounds amesome. If anything ever comes of it, mind you give me your address so I can show up on your doorstep with celebratory beer. A mate and I wanted to open a café near my church. We'd have Mystic Monk Coffee (I was going to buy it in wholesale), with lots of books (upstairs I was going to run a publishing/printing house for all those hard-to-find Godly books we need), comfy sofas for reading, and decent tables for those who wanted to Write (or do Maths homework). We were going to call it Non verba sine Verbum, or whatever 'No word without The Word' is in Latin. We're....kind of dreamers.

One of my favorite things to do during November is to get the Mystic Monks Irish Creame blend and then put some Baileys in the mug and top it off with homemade whipped cream. It is a little piece of heaven in every sip. A mate and I wanted to open a café near my church. I was going to use only Mystic Monk coffee and give a portion of the proceeds to them and try to give some to help the FSSP seminarians that need financial support. I'm at an FSSP parish and we would have donated a chunk to them too.
Cherie
So, if I tried their coffee, what do you recommend for a good medium roast blend? Not too bitter or bold, but not TOO mild. I do drink cream in my coffee; can't take it black. I've tried, it's just not the same!
Lilllabettt
what do the mystic monks have against tea, is what I'd like to know.
