Nihil Obstat
Yes, unfortunately because we are currently renting our location we do not always have the chance to do as many parish events as we would like. This is because we have to get approval from the parish church we are currently staying at. Plus our plans will sometimes conflict with theirs, so when this happens we have to give the right away to them. We will usually have pot-lucks every other Sunday and we have an annual parish pick-nick coming up early September. We also have Oktoberfest coming which is always a lot of fun as well. I'm sure when we get our own church we will ramp up the number of parish events. If you are active in with the young adults then you will have stuff to do. Also if you decide to go to our parish there is an unofficial parish e-mail bulletin that is sent out to everyone that signs up for it. It gives great information on the goings on, and if there are any sudden changes to a Mass time or event, everyone gets notified via this e-mail chain. It can be very tough. My FSSP quasi-parish shares a building with a Novus Ordo parish. Legally speaking it is one parish, with traditional and new Masses daily. There is definitely some friction. We work pretty hard to keep things running smoothly, but it is not always easy. Plans conflict, and sometimes people get shafted.
Poorly Catechized Convert
Thanks for a all the replies. That one wasn't in Portland, was it? Dang, it looks like we really should have a Seattle Phatmass meetup. I didn't know so many people were in that area. :hehe2: That would be fun :) Yes, unfortunately because we are currently renting our location we do not always have the chance to do as many parish events as we would like. It does sound like a great parish. I'd love to try to get involved with the young adult group. 20 isn't too young is it (that may seem wierd but some young adult groups start at 21)? Sts. Peter and Paul is another great one. Fr. Saguto and Fr. Kenneth baker I believe setup a Latin Mass down there on Sundays.I have gone there a couple times. It's a lovely church. Most of the young adults will be in their early 20's. You would just have to wait one year before you could go to the pub with them, which doesn't happen that often. Well I haven't seen it happen a lot. Most of the time they will go to movies together, pizza, or just hangout. One time we arranged a day of shooting in the woods. It was fun. That must be a new development... I lived with my beloved Auntie in Gig Harbor while I had one foot in the US and one foot in the UK prior to moving and getting married and that church was my nearest parish of choice. P.S. please pray for my aunt! She's a Catholic away from the Church but after my mom died I think she's had thoughts that she would like to come back. Are the others under 21? I hope those don't seem like weird questions, but theye are the sort of thing that make me uncomfortable :) Edited August 22, 2014 by Poorly Catechized Convert

If you want feel free to PM me her name if you are comfortable with that? No pressure. If not I will just say Ash's aunt. Do they have any explicit age range? Are the others under 21? I hope those don't seem like weird questions, but theye are the sort of thing that make me uncomfortable :) It's okay, I do not view your questions as being weird. No there is no explicit age range. There are some that are 21 and older and some that are younger than 21. The majority though I believe will be 21 and older.

Maybe I'll be able to get involved then. I guess it will still depend on how comfortable a feel after meeting some of the parishioners there. I appreciate all of the answers I've received! Thanks!
