Deus te Amat
It's official. I am allergic to dairy. Yoghurt is trying to kill me! You don't even know, bro.
maximillion
Dairy does not make me ill but boy does if cause my psoriasis to flare so I tend to avoid. Cheese is worst. (I love it!) Do Goat milk products affect you too? They affect me much less so I use goat's milk in hot drinks, and replace butter in cooking with other stuff. (not Margarine - that really is death!) You can make a beautiful whipped 'buttercream' for cakes etc using coconut cream. Replace the butter in cooking with coconut oil ( it is solid at room temp). franciscanheart
I've been really curious: how did you discover this allergy?
MissScripture
My throat got itchy and tight any time I ate yoghurt, ice cream, cream cheese or drank milk. Edited August 23, 2014 by MissScripture
franciscanheart
That's creepy. I'm so sorry. I love yoghurt.
John Ryan
I have been allergic to dairy and eggs ever since I was born. It really limits your ability to eat out, since almost everything has some kind of milk or egg in it.
MissScripture
My son is allergic to garlic and severely dairy intolerant, so we rarely ate out as a family. Now, I won't even want to eat out with my husband, because I won't be able to have so many of my favorite foods. We are in a very hippie friendly place, though, so there are several restaurants that have vegan options.
MissScripture
Also, road trips with food allergies are a nightmare!
brandelynmarie
I eat vegan from time to time. I had found an aged, brie-like cheese made from almond milk as well as yoghurt made from soy or almond or coconut milk. :) But perhaps you already know this... :console: Don't worry, yoghurt won't hate you forever... MissScripture
I make coconut milk yoghurt for my son, so I tried a little of that, but the day I did that, my morning sickness got way bad, which is probably coincidence, but I don't want to try that again for a long time! I haven't seen cheese made from almond milk, but we have done cashew "cream cheese" before, and that is surprisingly tasty!
brandelynmarie
Coconut is weird for me...I can drink coconut water & eat plain coconut, but I actually get sick from coconut oil & coconut "milk"...they call it a herxheimer (spelling?) reaction. Small amounts seem ok for me...I need to work up to larger amounts.
