Christian Genocide

I have full sympathies for Robin Williams, and I recommend praying for him and his family. I also understand the seriousness of what's going on in Ferguson. However, there is genocide going on in the Middle East, and we cannot allow ourselves to forget the urgency of its seriousness.

Credo in Deum

Meanwhile, in Mosul...

This verse keeps running through my head...

"And Jesus having called a little child to [him], set it in their midst, and said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven"--Matthew 18:2-3

FP (or should we call you TP now?), while I don't doubt ISIS rebels would point a gun at a baby and delight over it, that picture may not be legitimate (http://misguidedchildren.com/foreign-affairs/2014/04/is-jihadist-photograph-called-our-youngest-hostage-a-hoax/19488).

This added to the fact that it may be a little disturbing to some pholks who might stumble on the thread, I don't think it needs to be posted on here.

I think many of us on PM have been keeping Iraqi and Syrian Christians in their prayers, even if we're not posting about it. The Peshmerga just recaptured the Mosul dam and seem to be advancing. This is good news, but of course war is never pretty and things can go wrong quick.

You may call me Phetus the Great and Amnioticful.

And yes, it may be a little disturbing to some who stumble on the thread, because it is disturbing. I know I found it deeply disturbing and disconcerting.

Thank you for posting the Patheos link Miles.

It's the least I can do. ;)

No really, it is quite literally the least I can possibly do.

I've seen the video. Compared to other terrorist vids, the one purportedly executing Foley seems suspect at least. They basically censor the actual killing of Foley, which is weird for terroristy folks to do, seeing as how they love to terrorize. Also the production value (cross-cutting!) seems like it has been stepped up. Just weird all around. Of course it is possible that they shot Foley off camera or killed him in a more merciful way for complying with reading that ridiculous message in the beginning of the video.

Just weird all around. The Islamic state is evil. There is no denying that. But that doesn't mean we should accept all evidence hook line and sinker as there are some big international players in this game, including the US gov't, who know how to peddle fear and propaganda.
