PhuturePriest
This conversation has been split from my daily mass thread. Modding skillz. I contest the naming of this thread, as I never say dumb stuff. Why? Because dumb people can't speak. Luke 1:20.
Nihil Obstat
I contest the naming of this thread, as I never say dumb stuff. Why? Because dumb people can't speak. Luke 1:20. The title of the thread makes no claims regarding the vocal or non-vocal nature of your interaction. I think you are projecting your own blabbermouth extravert insecurities on the rest of us. :|

Benedictus
Well, I figure is best to let the church die in the Northeast, then be resurrected by people who actually care. Most of the priests who spew this stuff are ancient anyway. I have never heard a priest say such things, even in places some would consider more liberal. But then I'm not in the US and things are maybe different. I think Bishops are sometimes in a difficult position though - they may know what is said by a priest isn't ideal but they have demanding people in the parishes and a shortage of priests. They often, as you mentioned, have to deal with people who can't face up to parish closures when demographics and needs change - it draws away alot of energy from what needs their attention. Most of the trouble makers seem to be older priests, even over here. They take advantage of the shortages and draw up any support they can to place pressure on dioceses. The diocese often do well by simply trying to ignore them and deflate attention. I think a bishop may well simply want to ride out the storm and wait for these men to retire. Leave them with their false hopes and let the clock keep ticking! Of course this isn't ideal but it seems to be what often happens. Plus, I guess, in some situations the bishops are also of a certain generation and things may not become more stable until they also retire. But I don't think that means anyone should put up with a situation without saying they aren't satisfied, over and over if necessary (even if ignored). I would maybe try and form association with those who are of a likemind and attend the best parish I could find locally. Maybe a midweek homegroup with likeminded members of the parish would be a good thing to do so you don't feel isolated. Carrying on regardless of what some priest thinks can sometimes be the best thing to do. Well that and offering up prayers for them.
tinytherese
Are there any Tridentine masses you could go to that are in good standing with Rome or Eastern Catholic liturgies you could attend where you wouldn't have to listen to that nonsense? The Bus Station
Corona is pretty good Idk why it gets such a bad rap.
cmaD2006
Ok ... I have to say this. There *are* a number of very solid priests here in the Northeast. And some really good homilies. Besides -- even when I have to put up with a "meh" homily, I focus on one thing. The Eucharist. Keeps me going back for more.
Nihil Obstat
Apparently the priest who says the traditional Mass at the Portland cathedral is excellent.
Marie-Therese
[Mediator of Meh]Personal attack. Warning issued. 7 day vacation. Bye Felicia! -dUSt[/Mediator of Meh] Doing God's work. Meh, I'll give you a pass for being so young. As a final note: "A Catholic who is not of the business of evangelization may never hope to see the Beatific Vision." -- Father John Hardon 1 Timothy 4:12..." Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."
cmaD2006
Corona is pretty good Idk why it gets such a bad rap. I prefer Negra Modela myself ... just had a wonderful set of coworkers get a six-pack for me (they drank most of it though lol).
veritasluxmea
Corona is pretty good Idk why it gets such a bad rap. Sexism. "Corona is for women and children" Personally, and most of the people I know agree with me, most IPA beers are way to bitter, like West Coat IPA and Belle's Pale Ale. The best balance is Stone IPA.
