No, it's 'corr' I'm afraid. It's not pronounced as spelled.

I know it's not pronounced as spelled. I'm saying it should be. ;)

I met a Benedictine brother yesterday.  He was really nice, and a lot of fun to talk to.

Did he seem scared? It was probably the first time he'd been allowed to speak freely in over a year.

The good thing about Miles Christi is that they are a very discerning order (both the consecrated women and the priests are in formation for 12 years): http://mileschristi.org

And, my favorite, sorry for the estrogen/testosterone combination in advance :p http://heartsofjesusandmary.com

I'm not sure I agree with a 12 year formation period. I of course have no authority on the matter, but 12 years seems excessive. If you don't know for certain if you're called to a community after 11 years, you're either really indecisive, or the community itself has a questionable atmosphere. I'm not saying Miles Christi does, but I am saying you should know before 12 years if you're called or not.

I think there's a rule for at least eight years, maybe a limit on 12? So if it's cool with canon law it's cool with me, although it is something to keep in mind when checking out their atmosphere and life.

You mean in Miles Christi the minimum is 8, or in general? Because most that I know of take about 6-7 years.

No, the minimum is 8 overall for every order, I think. I may be wrong. I've never heard of an order that does less than 8 years? The longest formation I know, besides Miles Christi, is nine years for the SOLT sisters. The other places where I know how long it is, is eight.

You are indeed wrong, because I know for a fact several communities only take 7 years.

Ok, so canon law probably has a minimum of seven years? Don't know if they have a maximum.

Although now I think about it, I do know of a priest who studied in an order for sixteen years before he was ordained. That was usual.

I used to go to a mission church run by them. They're in a lot of archdioceses now.

Why is this at the top of the page now?

That would be the Jesuits. They're ordained after 8 years, but they go back to school afterwards. They're a part of the order before then, however.
