ToJesusMyHeart
Mater and others, I come to you for assitance! I need help finding a short-sleeve white mock turtleneck. I've checked Land's End- they only have long sleeved; the sisters told me not to get St. John's Bay short sleeve, and Bedford Fair only has non-white short sleeves. ASH City didn't have any short sleeve when I checked but maybe I did it wrong. Help! :)
ToJesusMyHeart
I'm just going to put this here for future reference and in case anybody has any really stupendous recommendations for where to buy these things. All I have so far are my long sleeved mock turtlenecks, some towels, and sheets.

AdvocataNostra
Lands end men's has short sleeve ones. You could get a smaller men's size.
Nunsuch
Just a thought but, if a community requires particular items for its postulants, wouldn't they be able to offer suggestions as to where they might be acquired?
andibc
Hi Katie, A few years ago I bumped into Mother Agnes (she grew up a few miles from us....same church) and as one of my daughters was entering the Ann Arbor Dominicans, we were talking about oxfords (same shoes as you will need.) She jokingly said something about a group of postulants entering with what looked like combat oxfords (at the time we could only find heavy soled oxfords too) . She went on to tell me where she had gotten her last pair, which was very helpful. I think she or the other sisters would know where you could get the shirts and would be happy to pass on the info. Sponsa-Christi
Just a thought...as a last resort, could you get extra long-sleeved, and then bring them to a tailor who could turn them into short-sleeved?

ToJesusMyHeart
I like those Haband ones, thanks a bunch! Who knew entering the convent was so expensive?
OnlySunshine
I like those Haband ones, thanks a bunch! Who knew entering the convent was so expensive? It seems rather ironic, doesn't it? Here you are ready to go and live a life of poverty and you gotta buy tons of stuff! :hehe2: Glad you like the Haband ones. If it were me, that's what I'd get, too. ;)
Sponsa-Christi
One thought I had looking at this list...it might not be prudent to delete your main email account totally right before you enter (for the same reasons why it's not prudent to get rid of all your property before final vows). If you did discern out, it would be helpful to have access to at least one of your old email accounts for the sake of re-establishing contact with people who could help you get back on your feet again. Maybe instead you could just set your email to send out a very long-term version of an away message? Or entrust your password to a close friend or family member and have them look after the account for you for at least a year or two?
marigold
I had permission to log in to my email account every couple of months just to keep it from going dormant. Still have around 2000 unread emails that I haven't got around to yet...
