Wedding

Someone I know has left the church and practices wicca. They are getting married this weekend in a park she will be wearing a fairy dress and barefoot and pregnant. Anyway some people I know are attending but I will not attend. I keep making up excuses for not going I have not told the real reason. Am I wrong for not going and how does the church view this?

The Church doesn't really have a rule for this kind of thing other than not joining in their communion service if they have one.

I handle these kinds of things by avoiding the service, but attending the reception. Relationships are hard. Those that aren't sacramental have even bigger hurdles. We want people that are important to us to have happy lives. We want them to know that we wish them the best even if we don't agree with all of the decisions they are making.

I attended a wedding once that was done all in Klingon. I had made many of the costumes in the wedding party. It wasn't sacramental, but it was fun. I prayed during the service that as they matured, they would realize the seriousness of marriage. Hopefully in the future they will understand the importance and value of the sacrament and get it done properly.
