O'Brien? I'm looking for some nice Catholic fiction to read, and apocalyptic stuff is fun.
PhuturePriest
I've been tossing around the idea of writing a Catholic fiction book on the 3 Days of Darkness. I want to do that rather than a book on the end of the world, because every single "end of the world" movie or book is never actually the end of the world, and the characters always survive at the end. Think movies like 2012.
ImageTrinity
I've read it (and the rest of the series). Good stuff! Very well-written.
corban711
I read Father Elijah a long time ago and I liked it a lot at the time. Haven't read any of his other books though...I try to stay away from books with lots of pages. Though I haven't read them myself, I have heard particularly good things about "Island of the Sun" and "The Father's Tale: A Novel". From what I have been told, this is an author who has gotten consistently better with time.

Winchester
I read it. It was okay. Got a bit sloggish, if I remember.
Winchester
Btw, i've been reading Innocence by Dean Koontz, a Catholic author. Good stuff. Every Koontz book I've read has had an awkwardly written sex scene in it. Hilariously awkward.
TeeCee
Love that book.
porziuncola
I think Island of the World was his best book, and it really was quite exceptional. A lot of his other books have been disappointing to me. Sophia House was pretty good, and Theophilos was ok, but the Father's Tale was tortuous. I've tried reading Eclipse of the Sun and Fr. Elijah at least twice, and didn't get very far. I'm surprised one book could be so amazing and the others so... Not.
LittleWaySoul
Okay, am I the only one who finds this book to be, well, poorly written? I'm only halfway through, and I started on the highest recommendations from friends who usually have excellent tastes, but honestly I've found it to be... lackluster. I could explain some of my frustrations with it, if anyone is interested. But mainly I'm just trying to find out if I'm the only one who doesn't absolutely adore Father Elijah.
