Ash Wednesday
LOL Do you recieve the Eucharist most of the time you go daily mass? i feel like somehow it is too holy just to be an everyday things you know? I refer you to Pope St. Pius X, who was very influential in encouraging communion to be taken more often by the faithful. http://www.ewtn.com/library/CURIA/CDWFREQ.HTM He is very close to my heart and I was born on his feast day. :) (I know, cool story sis) Edited August 7, 2014 by Ash Wednesday
PhuturePriest
LOL Do you recieve the Eucharist most of the time you go daily mass? i feel like somehow it is too holy just to be an everyday things you know? Again, the Church recommends daily communion. If you had the opportunity to speak with Jesus physically every day, would you turn it down because it's just "too holy"? Why would you deny Jesus calling you up to receive him? Again, I know many Saints who received the Eucharist daily, and not one of them that I know of recommends against that. cmaD2006
I confess, I have not been to a weekday mass in a long time. At one time in my life (pre-job, pre-wife, pre-kids) I would regularly attend daily mass. It was extremely fulfilling. I have allowed all of the other things in my life to consume my time. No more. I am pledging, right now, right here, to you my pham, that I will make time at least one day a week to attend a weekday mass.Attainable goal. Hopefully this can increase in the future as I adjust. Any of you slackers with me?!?!WE CAN DO IT!!! Already there :). I usually make 1 weekday Mass a week. On good weeks -- I can get up to 3 in. Used to get almost 5, well until I left the one parish that has evening masses.
cmaD2006
bros do you ever feel like Mass is so Holy you should not go to daily mass? like on Sunday one prepares by First Vespers the night before, prayerfully reading the Gospel, going to confession etc. cannot do everyday. then mass would not feel as special also if it is everyday. No .... Here's the deal with daily Mass. There's grace involved. Everytime you go, not only do you get the extra graces associated with attending Mass, but the big benefit of receiving Christ's body and blood. I have a friend who I have been speaking with who for the last three weeks decided not to receive communion, and he even said "oh no, I'm not in mortal sin." Um -- communion is food for the spirit and soul. It will never hurt (unless you're in mortal sin), and in fact in difficult times will give you the additional strength needed to persevere. So ... if you have the option to attend (regardless of NO vs TLM) you should most definitely attend. I wished I really could attend on a daily basis, because it does seem like I'm sustained spiritually so much better by it. But given my life it becomes difficult. Finally you mentioned that "one prepares ... going to confession...." etc. One thing I wanted to say is as long as your soul is not in mortal sin you *can* receive communion without going to confession immediately before. And -- feeling as though you *have* to go to confession right before, on a weekly basis actually is not relying on the grace God gives you *at Mass* to forgive venial sins. I don't mean that devotional confession has no merit -- I've gone between weekly confession and confession every two months (and at this point I'm usually at the two week mark, give or take). But -- unless there is a mortal sin it is NOT required (other than the yearly requirement that the Church asks of each member). Hope this helps. Clare Brigid
Friday is a good day for this. Attending Mass would also fulfill our obligation to carry out some form of penance on Fridays. Attend Mass in the morning and reward yourself with a cheesesteak later. Edited August 7, 2014 by Clare Brigid
AveMariaPurissima
I work one or two days a week at our parish office, so I'm usually able to get to Mass during the week at least once (other than Sunday). Definitely one of the many things I love about working there! :saint2:
Credo in Deum
LOL Do you recieve the Eucharist most of the time you go daily mass? i feel like somehow it is too holy just to be an everyday things you know? Not only do I receive every time I go to daily Mass (provided I'm not in a state of mortal sin and have gone to confession), but I also at times receive twice a day. The Eucharist is the Bread of Heaven. It is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He instituted the Eucharist so I could receive Him, so why would I not want to receive Him? My unworthiness shouldn't shock me and keep me from my Lord. He has not made Himself a prisoner of love because He needs me, but because I need Him. The only one that doesn't want me to receive Christ is satan and he will employ all sorts of cunning ways to achieve this, including false humility. Benedictus
Do you recieve the Eucharist most of the time you go daily mass? i feel like somehow it is too holy just to be an everyday things you know? yes, every day. If I need confession I get there before mass. It is holy, which makes it an even more amazing grace. If there's no reason to not commune then you should I reckon. God doesn't just get involved on special occasions, but in the everyday. Jesus is present there for you. So not going for communion may well be counterproductive. Such thinking can also lead you into a trap - such as not going to mass when you could because once week is as holy as it should get.

brandelynmarie
It's not just the attending of Mass, but the receiving of Him that truly matters! Catechism 1416: "Communion with the Body & Blood of Christ increases the communicant's union with the Lord, forgives his venial sins, & preserves him from grave sins...." If someone could be so kind as to site 1416 here, that would be awesome. My phone isn't the most cooperative thing in the planet!
Credo in Deum
LOL Do you recieve the Eucharist most of the time you go daily mass? i feel like somehow it is too holy just to be an everyday things you know? I was at mass praying the prayer of St. Ambrose before communion and remembered this thread. I wanted to post it here since it touches on your question and since it is an amazing prayer. St. Ambrose's Prayer Before the Eucharist O loving Lord Jesus Christ, I a sinner, presuming not on my own merits, but trusting in Thy mercy and goodness, with fear and trembling approach the table of Thy most sacred banquet. For I have defiled both my heart and body with many sins, and have not kept a strict guard over my mind and my tongue. Wherefore, O gracious God, O awful Majesty, I, a wretched creature, entangled in difficulties, have recourse to Thee the fount of mercy; to Thee do I fly that I may be healed, and take refuge under Thy protection, and I ardently desire to have Him as my Saviour, whom I am unable to face as my Judge. To Thee, O Lord, I show my wounds, to Thee I lay bare my shame. I know that my sins are many and great, on account of which I am filled with fear. But I trust in Thy mercy, of which there is no end. Look down upon me, therefore, with the eyes of Thy mercy, O Lord Jesus Christ, eternal King, God and Man, crucified for men. Hearken unto me, for my hope is in Thee; have mercy on me, who am full of misery and sin, Thou who wilt never cease to let flow the fountain of mercy. Hail, Victim of salvation, offered for me and for all mankind on the gibbet of the cross! Hail, noble and precious Blood, flowing from the wounds of my crucified Lord Jesus Christ and washing away all the sins of the whole world! Remember, O Lord, Thy creature, whom Thou hast redeemed with Thy Most Precious Blood. I am grieved because I have sinned, I desire to make amends for what I have done. Take away from me therefore, O most merciful Father, all my iniquities and sins, that, being purified both in soul and body, I may worthily partake of the Holy of Holies. Grant that my reception of Thy Body and Blood, which I purpose, unworthy though I am, may bring to me pardon for my sins, the perfect cleansing of my faults, the expulsion of all evil thoughts, and the renewal of pure feelings, the health and efficacy of good works, pleasing unto Thee, and a most strong protection both in soul and body against the snares of my enemies. Amen. Edited August 11, 2014 by Credo in Deum

TheresaThoma
I'm in, but I already go at least once a week (I'm spoiled that at my work/house we have a priest who comes once a week and says Mass) but I definitely need to go more often. I really don't have an excuse besides I get too busy. There are many different daily Masses near me.
Credo in Deum
Here's an idea. If you already go to daily Mass then how about challenging yourself in another way. If you go to the EF then try an OF Mass. In you go to the OF then try an EF Mass. If you already go to both then attend Divine Liturgy at an Eastern Catholic Church or vice versa. Think of it as Liturgy appreciation day.
