How To You Become A Better Catholic?

stop breaking this phroum's rules!  nothing that makes you a better Catholic allowed!

anyway, I should say that the generally chill atmosphere of jocularity mixed with orthodoxy that the phatmass brand has cultivated over the years has made me a better Catholic over the course of my life.  so I like the idea of chilling in the purged phorum where the madness can continue

oh, okay, I'll start being a worse Catholic then.  :flex:

you become a better catholic by being a more authentic you. not everyone will like it, and not everyone will think you're doing it right. so, take heart and keep doing you. xoxo.

fyi, y'all: the path to holiness is not all roses and sunshine. [wink]

this.  of course one should always be seeking to improve in virtue and grace, doing good and avoiding evil, making use of the sacraments and keeping a deep prayer life... but there is definitely an element to which one needs to try to be authentic to oneself... occasionally veneers of niceness are mistaken for holiness... but of course keep trying to be better... we all should do so... the church is the hospital for sinners, accept its healing touch on what you see as your faults and wounds and sins...

My Missal has a whole section dedicated to "how to be a better Catholic" To summarize it, it says one must have a life of prayer, self denial and work. What I've found helpful is a good balance between (Liturgical and silent )prayer, Sacred Reading(LEctio Divina) and work. Especially Lectio Divina with the Holy Gospels. Nothing withdraws the heart from love of the vanties of this world and inspire virtues more (besides the Sacraments)

I'm not asking how I can be a better Catholic online, but in general.

My spiritual director has recently been preaching on the importance of spiritual friendships; having friends with whom we intentionally try to grow in our faith.

Also, spiritual directors are big helps too.

I've been lacking in spiritual friendships - unfortunately right now in my life, I'm incredibly busy and I haven't made the time lately for my friends. :(

Ash Wednesday

I've been going to confession a lot more often, it's been like an earthquake in my life. In a good way.

Oh, that's too bad. Well know that your friends here be praying for you! I'm going to a holy hour. As Luigi would say "I'm gunna learn a prayer and say it for YOU!"

Or something like that. You'll be in my prayers.

I'll be your friend Red, and you don't have to worry about making time. We can be busy spiritual friends, offering up our busyness for one another. ;)
