dairygirl4u2c
interesting comment on 'lesser of two evils' "It said that condom use by a prostitute for disease prevention could not be considered a “lesser evil†because prostitution is “gravely immoral,†and that “an action which is objectively evil, even if a lesser evil, can never be licitly willed.†
Jesus_lol
What possible "sin" could they be adding? The Catholic position on this is pretty obvious, they consider condoms to be a form of birth control method, and they consider birth control to be bad. If it isnt being used as birth control(as would obviously be the case with two men, or even sterile couples) but just to help prevent disease, then there is no logical reason for the Church to take issue with condom useage itself at that point. To be precise, the Church is not opposed to all birth-control as such; abstinence-based methods (NFP) are acceptable if there is serious reason. The Church opposes contraception (doing something deliberately to thwart conception during the sexual act). But you are correct; sodomy by its nature cannot result in conception of children, and is always gravely sinful anyway. Using a condom during homosexual sodomy adds no additional sin; there's no contraception involved.
Perigrina
The question is wrong because it contains a false assumption in "catholics should keep the attitude of the pope 'there's something to be said about it' and turn a blind eye". You have misrepresented the attitude of the pope. The answer is "none of the above". Edited July 20, 2014 by Perigrina
