PhuturePriest
I still think this is all because of your underwear thread. Just saying. Underwear thread? I may not have many boundaries, but I don't recall ever going that far. :P Edited July 16, 2014 by FuturePriest387

blazeingstar
Young ones reaching out for help can by two ways: a) publically like others have done. And then we recommend solutions publically (i.e. resources, etc). b) through an email to the Phatmass email address that emails dUSt. Here's the thing ... it can become a legal issue. That's a big problem. And unless the site owners can grant dUSt full access to PMs as needed, then there's no real way to handle the issue. Most of the people on Phatmass are not counselors or spiritual directors so there needs to be care on the advice given anyway, and at least by keeping it public there's a bit of protection too for all parties involved. Well -- one more way I guess is to put certain fiddlers in ... that prevent certain types of discussions and immediately send a report. I don't know if that's doable. Not every time an under 18 has a private conversation though does it really need to be councelling, nor have real resources for help. C-mom is my favoritiest....I did reach out to her for serious help after she nearly strangled me with a frying pan. But people like Jamie and Franciscan heart mean alot to me too. Without being able to PM I never would of been able to find and ask the basic things I did. Heck even "Josh" under a different name. Never told them much, but did listen to their stories, etc and they listened to mine.

cmaD2006
I see what you mean. But GRRRRRR. Because dust's box is almost always full... and people in trouble will not do it publically... and will only reach out to people they trust. But i see your point. I meant the webmaster box ... not the PM box. That should be accessible.

I realize that blazingstar ... but the conversation can be held publically in that case. Again the idea is to provide some protection for someone under 18 while also protecting Phatmass. What if there was a members-only forum for such under-18s to post without it being visible to non-members? Like the Raising Small Humans, but for youngin's seeking advice/wisdom/answers to awkward questions? While not as "safe" feeling as a PM, that would provide a sense of and measure of protection for them.

Just because I can publicly talk about what it's like to be adopted with another adoptee dosn't mean I want to have 30 other people chime in. Plus threads here explode in contraversy. Lilbett and I live in a very similar part of the country where there is open hostility to practicing Catholics. Quite a few people were ready to burn us at the stake because blacks/latinos/homosexuals have it "so much worse". After a day of listening to my co workers say how terrible the CC is for "demanding" they go to an NFP class before getitng married in the church and "close minded" because they suggested they should not be living together and "rude" because tehy said that non-Catholics couldn't receive communion and how I was forced to participate in "team building" that included listenting to Katie Perry's peacock song.....I really don't want to deal with whiny mc poster who tells me that someone else is worse off than me. I need to talk to people like Lillbett who understand that it really stinks to live in the Northeast.

cmaD2006
On another note ... I posted in the other thread. We need a new class in the "Phatmass" system, that doesn't necesarily force promotion of Chummy Commoners to Church Militant (that means something specific on Phatmass) but that would allow "Phriendly Pholk" (lol) to use the PM system.
