OnlySunshine
As most of you know, I operate a website that helps candidates for religious life find the items they need on their shopping list - especially hard-to-find items. Well, I recently discovered a dilemma and I'm coming up empty. Someone asked me if they could get help finding black fisherman sandals in leather with a low or flat heel. She really wants a comfortable sandal so it's imperative that they have a good sole and they must have a closed toe. I'm turning up virtually nothing. I found the style she wants but it's not real leather. These seem to be out-of-season at the moment. This is the style she is looking for: http://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Dylan-Fisherman-Sandal-by-Comfortview-Energy-Flex.aspx?PfId=193441&DeptId=18149&ProductTypeId=1&ppos=9&Splt=0#.U79_DLFAMYJ She needs a size 9M (or 8.5 if they run large). I'm usually a wiz at finding things but this is proving pretty tough. If you could help out, I'd greatly appreciate it.
AnneLine
Mater, I don't know if these would work.... http://www.amazon.com/Walking-Cradles-Angel-Fisherman-Leather/dp/B0039YOHZ8/ref=sr_1_16?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1405070830&sr=1-16&keywords=women+fisherman+closed+toe Another possibility that might work is looking for men's fisherman's sandals. I have often found shoes that fit when my size wasn't available in a woman's. Ideally do some size comparisons in a store, but figure start with about 2 sizes smaller that what one would wear in a woman's shoe. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZITEPU/ref=twister_B00EZIRE84 There are a number of closed-toe flat-soled black ones out there if you look for men's..... MikMowse
QVC has several. One in particular is item #A255301. Would be worth a look.

Thank you. The Walking Cradles look comfy but, unfortunately, do not come in her size. I have suggested looking for men's sandals as I noticed there was a bigger selection and she said she would consider it if she couldn't find women's sandals but her foot tends to run narrow so she's worried about them being too big. QVC has several. One in particular is item #A255301. Would be worth a look. Thank you! I will suggest these to her.
cmaD2006
SAS shoes carries a very comfortable sandal. She should be able to get those even out of season. They're sold usually in higher-end shoe stores (i.e. those that carry orthopedic shoes). You may also find a SAS outlet in an outlet mall every so often. Finally you may be able to special order them. SAS shoes has multiple sizes and widths so that should work too. The cost is steep (I think the last time I brought a pair it was around $125 at a regular shoe store). These last a long time too. I've had my last pair over two years, maybe 3. Still going strong. Comfortable base (the footbed will mould itself to your foot over time too).

Yes, that was my first thought because I own two pairs of SAS shoes - one pair of sandals (Relaxed) and one pair of shoes (Roamer). But I don't see any closed toe sandals in their catalog. The closest would be the Roamer but I don't think that qualifies as a sandal. Did you see a style in particular?
Sponsa-Christi
Crocs makes a very nice, very comfortable, "normal"-looking women's sandal: http://www.crocs.com/crocs-cleo/10043,default,pd.html?cid=060&cgid=women-footwear-sandals

They also don't have any closed toe sandals. :(
OnlySunshine
I think I may have found a solution. I research Walking Cradles since they make narrow sizes and came up with this: http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/EC1227556-5131447/Walking+Cradles/Black/Womens+Angel.aspx I'm presenting the suggestion to her today. However, if any of you know of a less expensive sandal like this, let me know!
Alberto Guimaraes
Peace and Good! Antigonos
Zappos.com carries a good selection of the Naot Teva brand, made here in Israel. Some styles are obviously far too fancy, but the basic leather sandal [styles Kayla, Karenna, or Pamela] would be very suitable. Not cheap, but immensely comfortable, and they LAST FOREVER! [I still have a pair I bought in 1978. Granted, I don't wear them all day, every day, but I do wear them a lot]
