tinytherese
These past few days have been rough in some areas of Iowa. There were thunderstorms and flooding. My grandma's neighbors have a tree that fell which is blocking the road. It's too big to drive around. You either have to back up and take a different route or the not recommended way-drive over her neighbor's yard leaving behind tire tracks. They've called the city multiple times to remove it, but it hasn't done it yet. Others in the neighborhood have called about it as well. So far, the city refuses to even offer to look at it. We're worried about someone getting hurt or even killed in a car accident because of that tree. My uncle is trying to tell the local news station about it, so he might be on tv discussing how the city isn't doing its job and may even get sued for it. My grandma's neighborhood was without power for over 24 hours, (Monday to Tuesday,) but they've been without the internet, tv, landline phone services. The neighborhood has been calling and calling and people have been sent over multiple times to look at the wiring and then leave shortly afterwards without fixing it. My uncle called and was told that a work order was needed in order to do that. So the work order was filled out, but for whatever reason, people who don't know how to fix it are sent over. "I can't fix it. That's a job for maintenance." Why wasn't maintenance sent over then? The company has been called multiple times by multiple people, so they know what the problem is. "We can't fix it with that tree in the way." My grandma's neighbor pointed out that the man who fixed the lights in the neighborhood was able to work despite the tree's presence. One teenage boy's dead body was found in a sewer when flooding occurred and his friend went in after him, but didn't have any major injuries.
