brandelynmarie
This article is a good reminder for me to always begin with my personal sins before I take on the larger battles around me. :) www.aleteia.org/en/religion/article/the-devil-is-in-the-details-of-everyday-life-5891265493204992 Even as a Baptist, I loved C.S. Lewis. Edited July 3, 2014 by brandelynmarie
Perigrina
This was very good. It has been a while since I last read the Screwtape Letters but I am still influenced by its understanding of spiritual battles. I liked how this article gave examples of situations in our own time that illustrate the principles given in Lewis's book. Here is the link again since the one in the OP did not work for me: http://www.aleteia.org/en/religion/article/the-devil-is-in-the-details-of-everyday-life-5891265493204992

PhuturePriest
I have a recurring variation of dreams every night where I commit a mortal sin and feel awful despair and dread afterwards. I suspect Nargles are behind it. Edited July 4, 2014 by FuturePriest387

John Ryan
The article is not bad, but I greatly disagree with the first notion of war from the Screwtape Letters. The world must not be turned into a game where one either wins or loses her salvation. We must avoid this narcissistic obsession with the self and learn to think in terms of the other, community and structure.
brandelynmarie
But does that not first begin with the individual? And does not the Gospel teach one then to think communally?

Perigrina
I have a special regard for C.S. Lewis. When I was a child I loved the Narnia stories. They were my favourite books. I longed to meet Aslan and wished that Narnia were true. Then when I became a Christian I learned that Aslan was an allegory for Christ and the ideas in Narnia were true. I had been granted my wish and given my greatest longing. How many people does that happen to?
brandelynmarie
Wow :) I still read the Chronicles of Narnia...love them. :bible: C.S. Lewis' writings are definitely about joy...The Last Battle is my favorite....& yes, I'm still looking for a wardrobe in order to enter Narnia ;)
