TheresaThoma
Oh dear, I hope that something in the distance is friendly. I'm starting to ride my bike to Mass instead of driving (it is only about 5 miles round trip so very doable) so that should bump my mileage. CrossCuT
I have a bike...do I ride it? Maybe, maybe not. But my pedometer should arrive tomorrow! I ran 2 miles yesterday and I plan to take my dogs on a walk today!
TheresaThoma
I really should get back into running. I think alternating that with bike riding will give my butt a break.
AnneLine
Wonderful ideas all!!!! You may want to switch between looking at the 'terrain' and the 'google earth' option to get the best view of this part of the journey. Weather: Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge, Lake Havasu, AZ 104/84 F. TOO DANGED HOT!!!!! Park Moabi Regional Park, Needles, CA (we're still on the border between the two states) 108/82 F. EVEN MORE TOO DANGED HOT (Needles is usually the hottest place in California!) Bullhead City, AZ 104/81 F. SUNNY Prescott National Forest, AZ 88/55 F, MOSTLY SUNNY, SCATTERED THUNDER STORMS The weather should be VERY WARM so be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing. You should have a hat!!! Take frequent breaks. If we are not careful, the HEAT WILL GET TO US!!! And there is still that odd noise. Maybe it is thunder... idunno..... First stop.... Park Moabi Regional Park, Needles, CA Needles is well-known to anyone who watches the weather in California. Every dang day the hottest place in all of California is Needles. It is on the border of Arizona, which explains why we have crossed back over the state line. http://www.cityofneedles.com/Pages/About-Needles/About-Needles.html Needles does look like a nice place to stop for a bit of a nap... to get out of the heat... http://www.cityofneedles.com/Pages/About-Needles/About-Needles.html We had a great nap..... :cloud9: But when we awoke, we knew something was TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY, TERRIBLY WRONG! "VERY FUNNY" said Tigger60. ... but then we saw him.... or her... or....????? "Uh-oh", said TheresaThoma....
AnneLine
"Does this happen a lot in the USA?" asked SpemInAlium. "Uh... not usually," AnneLine said, somewhat nervously..... then we heard that odd music.... and it was getting louder.... Suddenly found ourselves traveling in this: and chatting with a VERY NICE Alien who told us s/he had a special excursion planned for us since we obviously REALLY wanted to see America! S/he had noticed we seemed hot and tired, and just wanted us to have a lift!!!! S/he offered to take us to Mars, had we wished, but we said we really didn't have the time this year... maybe next year.... So S/he deposited us at the 'nearest airport'... in the middle of AREA 51. Which means we need an updated weather report!!!! Additional Weather... for the area we hadn't planned on visiting.....: Tonopah Test Range, Tonopah, NV 99/70 F. SUNNY Route 375 - the Extraterrestrial Highway and Area 51 97/63 F. SUNNY (But it could have been Mars... so we won't complain) Mars 70/-225 F OUT OF THIS WORLD http://quest.nasa.gov/aero/planetary/mars.html Las Vegas and Paradise, NV 102/81 F. SUNNY (Well... OK, but I am not sure if my idea of paradise is this hot....) Tonopah Test Range, Tonopah NV This is the place the US government is said to test experimental and classified aircraft. Those who believe in aliens think there may be other things going on. Whatever we know... we will NOT talk about it. This is one official version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonopah_Test_Range And this is the only photo NASA would let us have..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonopah_Test_Range The uh... Alien.... said that we should walk south down the highway, and we will be 'picked up' "by my buddies...." and suggested a nice place for dinner and a swim. Good grief this is a weird place! Last time we let AnneLine plan a trip.... Extraterrestrial Highway and Area 51, SOMEWHERE in Nevada http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/article/area-51-road-trip.html Extraterrestrial Highway http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/article/area-51-road-trip.html and http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/36290 Alien Research Center http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/5003 HEY LOOK! said CrossCut --- there's that restaurant that S/He recommended! We could use a swim, some refreshments, and make some plans for what we do next! http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2896 The Little A Le Inn Area 51 Bar http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2896 (CarterMia and Tigger60, you two can go for a swim, and we will bring you out something to eat. OK, after a few cold drinks and some bar nibbles (and joining CarterMia and Tigger60 in the pool for a midnight swim) the Group decided that we should we pray the rosary. (Tigger60 said she was gonna get some sleep). Just after we finished there was a knock at the door. Even Tigger60 got wide awake! We begged for help from our Guardian Angels... And SUDDENLY! there they were!!!! They said the Alien had contacted them, and said we needed some roadside assistance! They are good friends! The Angels said they will be flying us to their home base, the Cathedral of the Guardian Angels in Las Vegas, NV!!!! http://www.gaclv.org/ It is kind of an odd place, but then, this has been an odd trip! Tigger60 just whispered to me that has been there... and said she has a secret to share with us about it.... TELL US, TIGGER!!!!! The Angels arranged for us to have lunch with Elvis (everyone knows you can meet Elvis in Las Vegas!) since we were visiting Las Vegas... (and as a way of compensating us for our unintended excursion....) and he shared some great places to eat with us... http://vegasseven.com/2013/11/05/elvis-lives-las-vegas-restaurants/ Lunch finished, the angels left us in Paradise (a suburb of Las Vegas) and from there, we will head off to the Redrock National Conservation Area, Bullhead City and The Prescott National Forest. AND... we all agree: It will be WONDERFUL to just be able to walk across planet earth with no further concerns about Area 51!!!!

Spem in alium
I love page 7. :) This last week, probably around 12 miles again.
OriginalSin
I rode an escalator and a moving walkway. Do those count?
AnneLine
Sure! After all, we give a 'breathing' credit of 10 miles per week... did you hold your breath? or did you breathe? You're welcome to come along if you wish... but if you read last page, you need to realize that traveling with us... it can be.... interesting.... Next 200 miles or so will be pretty neat, however.... Do you bring apples? We can always use some apples....
