BarbTherese
Can a priest attend Mass only (not concelebrate) if he identifies himself to the celebrating priest? Would it be ok to invite a priest to attend only a Home Mass (but not concelebrate)? Our Archbishop has given his permission for the Home Mass and for the specified purpose. Thank you. cappie
Canon 904 states that the work of redemption is continually being carried out,as in the mystery of the Eucharistic Sacrifice, priests must celebrate it frequently. The Canon recommends daily celebration of the Mass by priests, but it does not require priests to say Mass every day. He doesn't have to identify himself but it would be good manners to do so in such a setting. When my mother was alive I used to attend Mass with her in our parish church (or another church). If I attend Mass in the St Mary's Cathedral I don't go up to the presider and say I'm a priest, so it depends on the circumstances
