AccountDeleted
With the increase in heated debate, I find myself asking, do we need more mods? Not that the ones we have aren't fantastic human beings, but they can't possibly be here always and everywhere! Thoughts? I thought the DT was for heated debate? Personally I think the mods have been doing a terrific job. We had some great ones in the past too but then they got real lives and were too busy to live here all the time -- *sigh*. Nostalgia. :)
Perigrina
there are people who post phishy stuff that's not tagged and people like tardis who are still labeled non-catholic. don't know if that's because work is backed up or because its a policy decision. obviously if its the latter that's not indicative of needing more mods. I know this isn't a moderation issue, but I can tell from the perspective of a new person how confusing it is. There are people with Church Militant who just do jokes and snarky comments, people with Commoner who post dissent, and even an orthodox Catholilc with a non-Catholic label. It isn't just one or two labels that are wrong. There are enough to be really confusing. It is really hard to tell what these labels are supposed to mean. Yes, but as you said, that isn't a mod issue - changing titles is dUSt's purview. And you really shouldn't pick on Winchester or Mikolbe for their jokes and snarky comments - they've been here forever and they wield great power. So just forgive them for they know not what they do. :p

I want to point out to everybody, especially Mikolbe and Winchester, that I never mentioned their names. It was Nunsense and you should go after her. Lil Red
What BG45 said ... I have pretty much stayed out of most of the board, except Vocation Station (and a couple of Lame Board threads). I will only go to places other than Vocation Station when we get reports and well, when the rest of the mods are mia. I honestly am still hurt by what happened the last time when a number of the ex-mods decided to "go after me" in a personal way, ... so if there is a complaint about not modding enough it really is due (on my part) to that thread. Life is too short, and I have enough on my plate to get "bashed" by people who don't know me in real life. So -- my choice has been to pretty much mod outside of VS only when I have to. Those of us who are mods are volunteers ... we do this because we accepted it. So -- when you think about attacking a mod (or criticizing, etc), just remember, we don't do this for a living, but we actually do this because we want to and we are human (with feelings, and who make mistakes). who are you? Why bring this up again? Gossip? Scandal? Slander? And, as I recall, things happened differently than as implied here. Is bringing this up again really necessary? OnlySunshine
I used to want to be a mod. Don't know what I was thinking. I wouldn't want the headache. Edited June 30, 2014 by MaterMisericordiae
AccountDeleted
Maybe one of the requirements for being a mod is not to take things too personally? People in positions of authority or power need to be objective and fair-handed in their dealings with everyone, not just those who agree with them or make them feel good. Being a mod is also a big responsibility because it sets the tone for all of Phatmass, and since dUSt set this up as a tool for evangelization, the mods have to be the ones who keep it true to his vision of Catholic progaganda delivered with orthodoxy AND charity AND humility. I don't know who you are, but you're quite right. (And another reason why I couldn't/didn't want to be a mod anymore.)
