Do We Need More Mods?

I think the moderation situation is excellent right now. Perhaps the best it has ever been, though many of our past mods are great people. And also Jason.
I mentioned a day or two ago that I am seeing much more heterodoxy and error lately, but I think that is primarily for the orthodox membership to handle, not moderation.

Let us gather together a band of merry men and women to bring forth a crusade to save dUSt from the monsters that have taken him hostage.

Dust prefers a mostly hands off approach, which is why, other than language, the thread over in DT keeps on rolling that was brought up earlier; not going to say anything too identifying about who reported what (other than my own), but of the last 10 reports, 8 concern the thread.  Of those 8 reports, 6 have been made by 2 users.  1 Report was made by me, because I nipped some language I saw while I was on, before it got reported too, and Dust prefers that we keep a thorough trail with a Report, an Edit, and a Warn before we touch a post. The other was made by a 4th user who pointed out something that crossed the Winchester Line.  If anyone wants to e-mail him to suggest more mods, I don't think the three of us would protest it; we've just mainly been trying to keep to the largely hands off approach.

there are people who post phishy stuff that's not tagged and people like tardis who are still labeled non-catholic. don't know if that's because work is backed up or because its a policy decision. obviously if its the latter that's not indicative of needing more mods.

Certain things are entirely Dust's purview, which you and CC have hit on the head pretty squarely:

  • Changing people's user groups
  • Bans
  • Whatever Dust feels Dust wants.

That sort of stuff.
