CrossCuT
I like the consistency of firm tofu, but it really has no flavour unless you do something with it first. Our recipe has you basically just throw it into your peanut sauce and be done with it, but IMO that left it pretty flavourless, hence my frying in peanut butter. I have a feeling I can eventually come up with better ways to flavour it though. It does not taste bad or anything, but it is not a particularly exciting ingredient when it does not have any added flavour. Although some people do not like the texture, and that comes down to preference. Are you a fan of curry at all? I have another amazing tikka masala recipe that is super yummy! CrossCuT
Yes, love it. Japanese style curry especially. I made this recipe for a friend who had never had indian before and she LOVED it. My only suggestions are to use 1/2 the amount of salt (you can always add more later if you want) and dont use reduced fat coconut milk. Us FULL FAT coconut milk. Its so yummy! http://www.laaloosh.com/2010/08/16/ww-chicken-tikka-masala-recipe/ And like before, you can remove the chicken. Ive had this dish with cheese cubes before and Im sure tofu would work well too. I like using Jasmine rice for this recipe too...or with anything. chrysostom
Baked fruit/veg. -Sweet potatoes, apples, peaches, squash, kale, pineapple, cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, or anything else that comes to your fancy, combined in any way you choose. -Slice them up -Sprinkle olive oil on top -Sprinkle your choice of: salt, pepper, ginger, pecans, basil, cinammon, etc. -Bake! I use a glass oven dish, unless it's just kale in which case I can use a flat metal oven dish.

Credo in Deum
Portobello mushroom burgers. Get some portobello mushrooms and cook them in a pan or on a grill. I will usually put spike or brags on them while they cook. Then put on garlic havarti cheese and then get some good sesame seed buns. In the buns I will put guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes, caramelized onions, and then some Dijon mustard. Put it all together and enjoy your burger. Ice_nine
Cheese pizza cannot be beat. Also, soup. You're allowed by Canon law to eat meat-flavored soup, so long as there is no actual meat in it. For realsies? I've always wondered. Also: alligator. Not considered meat? I grew up in a family with Irish/English heritage. Pretty much the two countries that immediately come to mind when you think "fine dining" and "culinary genius." My answer to this thread was: eggs. Enjoy! That reminds me, we had really good mushroom walnut lentil burgers recently! Not considered meat? Since it is amphibious and cold blooded it is considered in the same category as fish for the purpose of abstinence. Norseman82
Subway has a 6 inch tuna sub special for $3 on Friday. Additionally, you can bake or grill some wild salmon and chop it up and add it to salads or pasta. Oatmeal for breakfast is good too. Add some cranberries and raisins to counter any boredom. Also, adding cinnamon is supposed to do something healthy for blood sugar levels if you are worried about that. And snack on fruits like apples and bananas.
