southern california guy
Our Yahoo Messenger starts automatically when we log on. Yesterday afternoon I noticed that it did not. And instead of my user name there was the name "Urina" (Russian?), and no password. So did this "Urina" hack our account? Or did she come into our house when we were gone and use our computer? blazeingstar
so rather than "SCGphatmasser" you saw the name "urina"? Typically, that's cookie based meaning someone was on your computer or was in through a VPN. That said, are you sure you just didn't overtype something. I searched Yahoo usernames and Urnia is not listed

Who else could of touched the computer, is your screen password protected This. BTW, do you have small children or animals in your place who could have whacked some keys at random? yep. Its not a username, so someone else probably wasn't using your messenger.

My wife is expecting soon but we don't have kids yet, however we do have a cat. It is weird because the last thing I was looking at was the Korean movie "The Wedding Dress" on Youtube -- which is incidently quite an emotionally powerful movie. arfink
My experience is that cats often walk on keyboards as though they aren't even there, so I am guessing that's your culprit.
Luigi
check out the -what should I call it? - typing pattern? - of the name Urina; it could be caused by a cat walking on the keys (or maybe jumping onto the keys). Front-right-paw presses U, front-left-paw presses R, front-right-paw repositions onto the I, back-right-paw lands on the N, back-left-paw lands on the A. It would still work even if the cat were walking across from the other direction.

My wife doesn't really like the tear jerkers, but I kind of like the Korean ones.
southern california guy
I just got a bunch of email spams from "Russian" girls seeking "man".... I think that the Yahoo Messenger is not the most secure app that you can have. I've also got spam contacts on the Yahoo Messenger that I don't seem to be able to delete. I delete them, and then they come right back.... ": Edited June 26, 2014 by southern california guy
CatherineM
I don't use yahoo messenger, but every time I logged on for my email there were messages from someone named arrianna. Same thing, she was moving to our town and wanted to reconnect. By the end it was her wanting me to log onto her web camera porn show. I finally figured out how to block messenger. arfink
Yeah, if you want a secure messenger that's actually slightly useful, you might look into gchat, now known as Google Hangouts, or possibly something like Pidgin with a good third party messaging server. Slightly more work, but IMO, worth it.
