Not The Philosopher
So a little over a week or so ago I decided to pick up the Megaman X Collection on a bit of a whim. I haven't played any of these games since I was a kid, so this is a massive nostalgia trip for me. I've forgotten how much I liked these. Finished X1 earlier this evening. It was brutal; the final boss made my thumbs and wrists achey. The music is still pretty rad too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ab_c6Nb5WjE Darn it, now I think I'm gonna have to see how many of the X games I can beat before I go back to school. (My avatar is the wrong iteration, etc. etc.)
Not A Mallard
I don't play video games much anymore, but I do enjoy the Megaman X games (especially the music). I think I got stuck on the second one, though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uYeags6JMw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kOjXM0sH84
arfink
If you like those, I'd suggest checking out Shovel Knight. The music is amazing, composed by none other than Jake Kauffman. The level design and the pacing is pretty brilliant too. http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/shovel-knight-original-soundtrack

My younger 3 brothers though, they are all big video game fans. We have had a Play Station at our house since it came out. I honed in on my skill when trying to battle them. They have taught me well. arfink
I've always had a soft spot for the classics. Tight, high speed action, pixel-perfect graphics, excellent music. Basically, it seems like, by straining against the limitations of their hardware, the game developers were able to accomplish something that, with bottomless computing power, isn't really done anymore. It's part of why I love new games like Shovel Knight because they work with those classic ideas. I love newer games too, they can be really artful and beautiful, but netplay with other people is usually really unsatisfying for me because the game mechanics are either modified or slowed down to hide the fact that everything is lagging by as much as a second from real time, or because they don't do a good job hiding it and the lag becomes completely unbearable. I loved sitting in the same room with someone and having reaction times on-screen within a fraction of a second, it felt more fair and more fun. :)

Perhaps if I ever get a 3DS (or a controller for my laptop). Anyhow, I began X2 yesterday. Those pesky X-Hunters...
Not The Philosopher
X2 was completed on Thursday. Beat Sigma on my FIRST TRY. For simplicity's sake, I am also going to use this thread for documenting my balletomane habits. I had the day off, but it was rainy for most of the afternoon, so I spent it watching the Kirov ballet perform Swan Lake. And thanks to a cheque from the overlords, I have a DVD of Giselle w/the Bolshoi on its way in the mail.
Not The Philosopher
So I started replaying Chrono Trigger, which, as my avatar suggests, is very near and dear to my heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqTZfknDVes In unrelated news, I got a ticket to see Wagner's Die Walkure next month as a Christmas present. Very excite!
xSilverPhinx
The soundtrack for Chrono trigger is awesome, I just might pick it up and play it one day. Do you like puzzles? I would recommend Portal and Portal 2, I've played both more than once.

I would recommend Portal and Portal 2, I've played both more than once. I've watched someone play Portal, but have never played it myself. In spite of its popularity, I haven't been terribly interested in it. I did like Ico, which is kinda sorta similarly adventure-puzzle ish.
