CountrySteve21
So, I've been trying to find this, but have been unsuccessful. Would anyone now where to find this? Pax
AnneLine
When the FIRST 'interim breviary' came out in 1971 (yup, I had one at one point, and you really didn't want to see it....) they had a list of scripture readings in in for 2 years. And they kept saying that a full 'additional volume' would be coming out... but I don't think it ever was published in book format in English... However... I did find this... http://www.newliturgicalmovement.org/2010/10/two-year-patristic-lectionary-for.html which links to this.... https://www.dur.ac.uk/theology.religion/ccs/projects/ which links to this.... https://www.dur.ac.uk/theology.religion/ccs/patristiclectionary/history/ And you can download some kind of a 2 year cycle there! BUT to be honest except for a very few monastic houses, no one is using that as far as I can tell... they just use the 1 year repeating cycle. Anyone know differently? A one year lectionary is still pretty good, the readings are very edifying. I think I'm glad God spared me from the "interim breviary" I still don't know why the current breivary has butterfly's in it :|
AnneLine
I actually downloaded it myself, and it is amesome... has both scriptural and patristic options for the two years. There's no reason anyone couldn't use it for personal lectio divina, no matter whether the community with whom they pray the Liturgy is using the 2nd cycle of readings or not. :) And yes, the Interim Breviary. Well it was pretty awful. To be fair, they were trying to honor what they were being asked to do at the time. The strange 'Glory Be' that is used in the current LOTH is a relic of that... at least we lost the strange 'Our Father' -- which began, "Father In Heaven, Your Name is Holy...." Which is, of course true... but I really like the traditional English version better. And yes, the butterflies can depart for Pacific Grove, California now....
