Perigrina
I virtually never go to the OF on Sundays so I cannot answer this. But good work on figuring out how to create a poll. :bravo:
NotreDame
No, but when there is they seem to give really over-impassioned, annoying homilies.
Luigi
At MY parish, not usually. At a parish I attend at least monthly (in another role), almost always. His sermons are in the B range - not great, but always solid.
CountrySteve21
Yes, at almost every Mass.
Ash Wednesday
Chatty American living in Buckinghamshire, England. For now. And yes, the parish I'm registered at has the deacon there at mass most of the time. Edited June 21, 2014 by Ash Wednesday
CatherineM
Edmonton only started having permanent deacons a couple of years ago.
OnlySunshine
Yes, there is usually a deacon at Mass at my parish and, though they don't give homilies regularly, the ones they do give are very inspirational. I wish they were able to speak more often - especially the older deacon because he is very good. They read the Gospel when present, however. We used to have 3 deacons - 2 permanent and 1 transitional - but the 3rd was moved to a different parish to finish his diaconate before ordination. We miss him greatly. He is very devout and passionate about his faith.
Spem in alium
Sometimes. My parish has no deacon. Some Sundays I visit another church which is twinned with my diocese's Cathedral, and there is a deacon who does the rounds so we get him sometimes. He's excellent and, from what I've seen, a good model of humility. Edited June 23, 2014 by Spem in alium
PhuturePriest
Kansas has very, very few deacons. My old diocese had only one, and in my current one we can't have very many, as I've never once attended a Mass with one present, and I've never heard of a permanent deacon or met one here, and I get around and meet a lot of clergy. Basilisa Marie
There are some at the bigger churches around me, but none at mine here in SW Washington state.
Nihil Obstat
My territorial parish has at least one permanent deacon. That is where I go on Sunday evenings if for some reason I had to miss Mass at my regular place. I do not see many besides him.
