The Death Penalty

The Church or John Paul II's Prudential Judgment, history will be the judge, I suppose.

It's my hope that the other thread will not be derailed to a discussion on the death penalty, so I thought I would continue that here.  Why not, everything else has been rehashed recently.

If you see a need to move this to the debate table, go ahead.

I thought Knight's link was a very good read.  I urge others here to read it (or at least skim it).  It gives a great account of both of the Catholic sides of this issue.

I made a thread about this topic not too long ago--on my personal opinion--but can't locate it. I created it in Open Mic. Anyone want to help?  :saint2:

That article certainly gave me a lot to think about.  I knew what the Catechism says in regards to the death penalty, but I had never heard about the previous teachings on the use of punishment for retribution and deterrence.  Thanks for the link!
