PhuturePriest
I wonder if they are making "friendly wagers"? According to the news I heard on the radio this morning, the Vatican made a statement saying there would be "no Papal intervention on the outcome of the World Cup", so I suppose that means Pope Francis isn't praying for one result or the other. I personally think he's a closeted Germany supporter and doesn't want to publicly state it out of fear of tumbling down Argentina's government with riots. Credo in Deum
This is the most perfect thing I've seen since I last looked in the mirror. Seriously, that mirror is spotless. Not one speck of dust on it.

Catherine Therese
Fess up people :) How many of you have selected your WC-Final-hopeful on the basis of the Pope with whom you most resonate?

I chose Germany because I'm German and have always loved Germany. The fact I love Benedict more is just icing on the cake. :P

PhuturePriest
In all seriousness, very good game put on by Argentina. Germany just had possession at least 80% of the time, and they were bound to put one in eventually, and a glorious one it was when it did.
PhuturePriest
Messi isn't a very good loser at all, is he? He was given award for best player of the game (something that should have gone to Klose, in my opinion) and he looks as if he was voted worst player of the game. Germany's never lost a penalty shootout at the World Cup, but I was praying it didn't go down to that after seeing how good the Argentinian keeper is at those on Wednesday. I think Germany probably would have won it, but I didn't want it to go to chance like that. I'm glad it was won by pure, honest football.

PhuturePriest
Exactly why I was happy they scored in extra time. :) People are going to be talking about that unbelievable goal by Goetze for centuries. He had perfect control, bumped it off his chest just right, didn't even look at the net, and just kicked it in. Absolutely fantastic.
