Ef Confirmation - Any Advice?

So in a couple days, I'm getting confirmed in the Extraordinary Form. I'm exited, but also kind of nervous, because I've gone to the NO my whole life, and I've only been to a few EF masses. Has anyone else been confirmed in the EF, and if so, do you have any advice?

If anyone has any advice on Confirmation in general, (prayers, tips, etc.), that would be super cool as well :)

Credo in Deum

Congratulations on your upcoming confirmation.  I was not confirmed in the EF; however,  my brother did have this privilege.  I will ask him if he has any advice and I will post back with any helpful tips he may have.

Brace yourself for the slap! Just kidding, it's usually just a pat.

I was confirmed in the Extraordinary Form, and there is nothing to worry about. There should be a rehearsal beforehand anyway. Answer "Amen" at the end of the anointing. I don't believe responding "Et cum spiritu tuo" is called for when the celebrant says "Pax tecum" but it depends on the place.

Angelus Press' "Preparation for Confirmation" has beautiful prayers, but I can't find them online. You may want to read and reflect on the words and prayers of the Confirmation Rite itself, easily found online. Also, pray to your chosen Confirmation patron saint to intercede for you as you become a soldier of Christ and fully initiated member of the Church.

Congratulations in advance.

P.S. A good confession beforehand to make sure you get all the graces, and make sure to ask the Holy Spirit for them through the intercession of His Spouse :)

There actually isn't going to be a rehearsal; that's why I'm a little nervous. I'm sure it will be fine, though.

Confirmation in the EF is done outside of a Mass - they'll usually do one and follow with the other (Confirmation first then a Mass).

I have never been to an EF Confirmation, but we are planning one for my son in the fall.  I hope you will write about yours because I would like to learn all about it.

The link has a video on EF confirmation which you might find helpful (sometimes there are local variations, but it's pretty spot on). This video is a tutorial for bishops, but I think would be just as useful. You can probably skip the video to the half-way point, as there are a lot of pictures in the beginning that seem solely decorative (although if you want to see Benedict XVI in his former glory - watch away!)

I just celebrated my 5th Confirmation anniversary on Saturday, and if I could pull it off when I was 12, you'll be fine. I didn't have a rehearsal, either. I just went there the morning of and the plans were kinda sorta explained in a meeting. Just relax, really. There's nothing to be nervous about. The Bishop knows what he's doing, and even if you don't, you won't be the first person he's confirmed that didn't have a clear idea of what was going on.

As an aside, when I was Confirmed, my Confirmation Sponsor and I walked up, and she stated my name and the name of my Confirmation Saint, who is of course Saint Padre Pio. The Bishop physically stopped halfway to anointing my head and just stared at me for a few moments, and then he recovered and went ahead. My spiritual director was the presiding priest at the Mass, and he said the Bishop stopped because he was so shocked I chose Padre Pio, because nobody ever chooses him.

Thank you! That was fascinating and really helpful :) That whole lemon and bread thing is interesting.

Thanks FP. I'm sure it will all be fine. Just the fact that it's in Latin is kind of different because...I don't speak Latin :p

That's so cool that you chose Padre Pio! I'm choosing Karol for JPII, and already people are getting confused about it. They're like, "Who's she? I never heard of her." :|

Latin schmatin. I had no clue what I was doing. The beautiful thing about Confirmations is the people getting Confirmed don't need to know what's going on, the sponsors do. So long as your sponsor isn't clueless, everything will be fine. :P

I would totally choose John Paul II today if I could. It makes me lose faith in society that people don't get it, though. What's worse is there is no Saint Carroll, so the fact they don't realize it's Karol with a 'K' just makes me sad.

You can Latinize it as Carolus, or Anglicize it as Charles. So there are a few.

The thing is, my sponsor is my sister. She has no idea what she's doing either :p

It is a bit sad. Not a lot of people know his name was Karol.
