I've seen some people kiss their thumbs after crossing themselves.
When you bring your hand up to kiss your thumb your fingers start to curve, kinda' and your thumb makes a cross with your indexfinger, soooooo they "kiss the Cross"!!! BeenaBobba
Interesting Tony, I don't know what fingers to use, so I just use any. I can't confirm this, but I was told by one particularly ignorant Coptic Orthodox family member the thumb, index and middle finger is supposed to represent the Trinity.
It does signify the Trinity, you silly boy, you! (Eastern Christians also put their ring and pinky fingers flat against their palm to signify the two natures of Christ.) Guest JeffCR07
really, thats awesome, I'm definately a Roman catholic, but I just went to a Byzantine mass (i know they dont call it mass) and it was awesome. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about all the other Rites of the Church, Eastern Rites especially. The Holy Father calls the east the "Other Lung" of the Church. Yay! lol

Eastern Catholics (and Eastern Orthodox Christians) call what we'd call the Mass in Roman Catholic Church the Divine Liturgy. Did you enjoy the Divine Liturgy? I haven't been to one yet, but I really, really want to. God bless, Jennifer P.S. Have you read JPII's Orientale Lumen? (Orientale Lumen means "The Light of the East." ) There's a copy of it in EWTN's document library if you want to read it.
