Socrates
I'd say this concelebration at least lacked prudence, as it can too easily send the wrong message, especially in our hyper-politicized media age. It doesn't necessarily indicate an endorsement of that priest's heretical views, though, and at this point only Pope Francis and God know his inner intentions, which no one on Phatmass is in a position to judge. While I'd say Pope Francis has said and done a number of questionable things, he has not changed a single thing that Catholics are required to believe. Catholics are under no obligation to like or agree with everything a Pope does. His every action and decision is not directly inspired by the Holy Spirit, However, there's also no reason to get hysterical over such things either. Pray for both the Pope and this errant priest. This is a perfect summary of how I view the current papacy. I sometimes question the prudence of Pope Francis, but he has not changed Church teaching and, no matter what the media tell us, he is not going to. I have seen too many people going hysterical over Church news since the resignation of Pope Benedict. Just don't.

Good call on that, but are the clergy those who are under him, are they under an obligation to at least follow his direction / orders... If Pope Francis really wants a church of the poor, why doesn't he just give an order to all clergy to be prepared for a salary cap or give out an order to something else? Versus the President of the U.S.A, he gets on Tv nearly every month and is barking demands for this that an the other thing from everyone including his own party and congress, and if they don't toe the line he does what he wants anyway. And just a side note again mentioning what ya said on another forum, it is like an automatic ban from the site with out question, it is either live and die by the Pope or nothing. Drove me crazy ,, and now my headaches are gone cause I am here. another side question in general, is it odd to not really be that fascinated with the Pope or the Papacy in general ? Many have written plenty for us to read, but I have no clue where to find it at times and occasionally see a book for sale, but never have the money to buy it... I take some interest from time to time and unfortunately the only information I get about the papacy is from the media so I do take it with hesitation.... But for instance as a kid growing up during JPII supposedly the youth really connected with him, where as I barely had a clue about him other than his name, fast forward to now I am starting to keep a lil interest into Pope Francis but not enough to actually read anything he has written, and I am finding the religious ed class I am teaching on occasion they rarely know more than I do on the Pope, so why is it seemingly the rest of the world is more interested ? ( I jump around in thought )
Didacus
I dont see anyone as an enemy. I guess thats where we differ. Jesus said to love our enemies... not that we didn't have any. I agree we need to know our enemies. Being Christians does not equal being blind or stupid or ignorant of realities surrounding us.
