HisChildForever
Full article here. I'm not sure what to think? Pope Francis raised eyebrows earlier this month by concelebrating Mass with and kissing the hand of a leading homosexual activist priest campaigning for changes in the Church’s teaching on homosexuality. On May 6, Francis received the 93 year-old priest who has cofounded the homosexualist activist organization, Agedo Foggia, that is opposed to Catholic Church teaching. saintalis
Pray for the Holy Father. He often times lets his humanism outweigh his Catholicism due to his formation as a Jesuit in the 1960s. Pray for him.
superblue
perhaps people should have prayed for Christ when they saw him eating with and mingling with the sinners of his day.
CrossCuT
So we are to no longer respect people who have anything to do wih homosexualiy?
superblue
So we are to no longer respect people who have anything to do wih homosexualiy? evidently not, just be prepared for those who are foaming at the mouth to spout off with scripture, church teaching, natural law, the list could go on an on. HisChildForever
I don't think it has to do with respect, or even this particular priest's views, but the fact that the Holy Father concelebrated Mass with him...I mean, wasn't it automatic excommunication for Fr. Don Michele once he publicly professed his gay activism and contrary views?

Don Michele once he publicly professed his gay activism and contrary views? It is troubling that he hasn't taken action against him, and threatened with excommunication. This is a matter of infallible teaching, and it's not to be taken lightly.
PhuturePriest
perhaps people should have prayed for Christ when they saw him eating with and mingling with the sinners of his day. So we are to no longer respect people who have anything to do wih homosexualiy? Sorry to break it to you, but there's a difference between eating and evangelizing to the sinners, and concelebrating Mass with a man who literally started an organization opposed to Catholic teaching. One is eating and converting, the other is celebrating the Sacrifice of the Mass, the meeting place between heaven and earth and Holy Sacrifice of Our Lord. I'm not joining on one side or the other, but there is a difference. Edited May 28, 2014 by FuturePriest387

Fidei Defensor
Kissing his hand was acceptable. He is showing respect for Holy Orders. Concelebrating Mass though, questionable.

Eh I stick with what I said, the two issues are the same, who is to know first what the Popes intentions where by any of this, then what if it is the popes intentions to change the others heart and mind on the issue. I would at least give the pope the benefit of the doubt that first he knew exactly what he was doing and whom he was celebrating mass with. That in mind how is the Popes purpose not including to evangelize and to bring sinners back to God, then to just out of no where pass judgement on him that he did something wrong or scandalous. I can't tell you how many threads else where that I have seen, asking if a priest hasn't been to confession, or is in a bad mood, or a number of other things, and performs / celebrates the mass, is the mass still considered valid. The issue at hand is the Vicar of Christ, has done something, with a sinner,, how many times has Christ prayed with sinners, and a ton of other things, He was the mediator between heaven and earth, and the same debates took place then, how can He do that ! Oh no now he is unclean ! Oh no now the Temple is unclean ! Blasphemy and on an on an on. The other thing is everyone is always questioning what the pope does or doesn't do, and then what happens is that people expect that the Pope ( any pope ) does what they think he should do, same thing with Christ during his time, the people expected Christ to be a certain way, to conform to what they expected and wanted. Granted my first remark was offhanded but there ya go my final answer in detail. Sorry to break it back to you; I am not changing my mind on it . superblue
Photoshop... good point the article could be nothing more than a tabloid piece and a photo shopped picture of the Pope, so I guess the only one who knows for sure what took place and when is the Pope. I don't think you comprehend the difference between praying and the Sacrifice of the Mass. There's a reason why we can pray, but we can't celebrate the Sacrifice of the Mass.
