Crusader1234, clearly you didn't read my post. Just read it, and you will know that I do not think you were bashing me, and that I do in fact exist.

lanky - I was waiting for someone to make that point

my point was that you can't avoid subjects such as these in society today...this movie to my knowledge is not promoting them, but rather attacking them and showing how they do exist and even among "Christians".

[quote name='Colleen' date='Jun 7 2004, 09:21 PM'] Not see. Looks sick and stupid. I watched the first three minutes of it online and it stunk. Don't waste your money.

I agree. While some Christians might be able to see it and be totally unharmed by it, it's a waste of money. I'd rather spend my (lack of) money on something else.

God bless,

Jennifer

Hi Kiel,

It's one thing if it did that. It's another thing if it uses sex in the usual ways that it's always used in movies to sell it to teens.

God bless,

Yeah.......Mandy Moore, probably shouldn't be on Catholic Celebrites anymore. Since it's getting revamped.......I was arguing with a guy who said the directors of "Dogma" were Catholic, Catholics need to stand up and say "these people are just using the name "Catholic" to get away with as much hypocracy as possible. " It's funny, I don't play basketball anymore, and I hardly play by the rules, I would never call myself a basketball player anymore. However, I feel this logic does not apply to the people who want fame in Hollywood, who call themselves Catholic.

I may or may not see it. I listened to part of an interview with Clochan (sp?) on the radio this morning. It was on Fresh Air if you want to look it up. He said many Christian go in and come out okay. They don't question their faith that all, but they see it as a satire of some of the Christians today.

But to those that are like someone protraded in the film they get mad. We get most angry at what we see in others that is part of ourselves.

I am still up in the air if I shall or shaln't see it. But I won't judge until I have.

Beenaboba - that is a valid point, but thats also my argument. From what I saw on the trailer/preview it was not using "sex" to attract an audience, please correct me if Im wrong...if that were the goal/tool one would think that would flood the previews and trailor.

I don't know because I really don't know too much about it. But the USCCB's review says that there are some sexual situations and even blasphemy (which is actually worse than sexual situations) in the movie. They're a trustworthy source, so if they're cautious about the movie, then I think it's prudent that I am too.

God bless,

crusader1234

Just a note... crusader_4 is a smell of elderberries up and he laughed harder at the trailer than i did. but he was right, i do have a dark sense of humour... i also have a very light sense of humour. i have a broad spectrum of humour.

anyways, i think that i'd be one of the catholics who found the satire funny and would walk away unscathed, but thanks to voici's information, i think i'd pass on the movie. maybe i'll rent it but its not worth 8 dollars.

now that i have come to agree with voici, i still need some proof from jen. you are smart lets hear it (i have no idea what USCCB is, so if youd copy and paste something for me i'd appreciate it). i'm not saying its not possible i just dont see the blasphemy of it.
