Archaeology cat
Let me preface this by saying I have no plans to do this, but I'm curious. Let's say the neighboring diocese had restored the order of the sacraments of initiation, but your own diocese had not. Would it be ok to have your children receive the sacraments in the neighboring diocese, assuming the priest there was ok with it?
CatherineM
One of my favorite priests was from Chicago, but came to Oklahoma because he wanted to go where priests were really needed. When it came time for his ordination, he asked permission from the Bishop in Oklahoma City if he could be ordained in the Diocese of Des Moines where most of his Mom's family lived. It was easily arranged. I've known people who have gone through rcia in one place, and then go elsewhere to be baptized. It happens with college kids all the time who want to be baptized back home. It happens with weddings too, again with college kids, those in the military, or long distance relationships. Some people go through marriage prep in one parish but get married in a prettier church. At least your decision will be based on theological issues and not vanity. My only concern is that your decision isn't made from a position of disobedience to your pastor or bishop.
