Socrates
There are so many amazing people coming up with new ideas to utilize these forms of energy...but our oil giants are doing their role to smash it all down. :( Do you have any specific documented examples? CrossCuT
Do you have any specific documented examples? Of course! Do you know what lobbyists do? Big Oil basically bribes congressmen to prevent clean energy bills. Why would Big Oil want to support something that will reduce their profits? Capitalism - money/profit outweigh everything. :) Edited June 13, 2014 by CrossCuT

Didacus
http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/134112-climate-change-is-a-pro-life-issue/page-8 Greenpeace co-founder: No scientific evidence of man-made global warming Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2014/02/25/greenpeace-co-founder-no-scientific-evidence-of-man-made-global-warming/#ixzz34qAVoDct For every source that claims there is unanimity, I can show one showing the contrary. LOL Soooo.... overall... there is a disagreement, thus the fact that there is no concensus is proven by definition.
Dr_Asik
I'm sure you can find many more individuals who disagree with AGW, especially by quoting oil-industry sponsored organizations such as CFACT (the source for your link). That's doesn't change the fact that there is near-unanimity in the scientific community on the topic, which is what is meant by consensus. Also, Patrick Moore is not a climate scientist. Capitalism - money/profit outweigh everything. :) For some reason, your link didn't work (I just got sent to a google search page). However, judging from your description, your story appears to be about oil companies lobbying against proposed bills that would place various restrictions and punitive taxes on the oil business. That has nothing to do with people finding new ways to utilize alternative energy sources. Government regulations and taxation do not produce or utilize any energy (merely make it more expensive). I've yet to hear of a single working innovation in energy utilization coming from a congressman. So, unless the story actually says something different, it looks like Big Oil vs. Big Government, rather than Big Oil vs. energy innovation. I thought maybe you had some juicy stories about somebody inventing some amazing new technology to utilize an alternate energy source, and "Big Oil" sending in the goon squad to smash it all down. Oh well.

Gotcha.
