PhuturePriest
Update: I have a meeting tomorrow with the vocation director of Dodge City. I actually know this guy pretty well since I used to live in the diocese, and I had a meeting with him once before when I was 15, so I'm not very nervous about it. Hopefully he doesn't tell you to get the hell out of Dodge! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Here have a muffin! :muffin:

Spem in alium
You sound quite confident and open, which is wonderful. I just thought I'd share something I personally like to pray in my own discernment. It helps to keep me grounded and focused. Father, I abandon myself into Your hands. Do with me what You will, and whatever You may do, I thank You. Let only Your will be done in me and in all Your creatures. I ask no more than this. Into Your hands, I abandon my soul. I give it to You with all the love in my heart. For I love You, Father, and so need to give myself without resolve, for You are God my Father. Your Will. Nothing more. Nothing less. Praying for you, Miles. :)
AnneLine
And I am praying for you as well, Miles. There's a lot to be said for having that year at the community college, and mabe doing some work with your Youth Group.... maybe even some secular volunteer work in the community (sometimes you can get credit for this as well!) (or do volujteer work that will get you a small amount of money and an ending Americorps grant to help pay for school or some such!!!) God has His reasons for you to wait the extra year.... and perhaps it is because some soul needs to come in contact with you. You never know what God has in mind for you! :hehe2: AND.. I will share my favorite vocations quote with you, came from one of the holiest priests I ever knew, who said it to me many years ago... and it has helped hundreds of people since then. He said: "If God wants you in _______, nothing on earth will keep you out. If God does not want you in ________, nothing on earth will get you in. So... be at peace, and trust that He will guide you to the right place." It's so simple... and so hard to do! But you are starting to see how it works, I suspect..... SO PROUD OF YOU! :winner:
Cherie
Wow! Thank you for the update! I know I don't come around all that often and we haven't interacted much here on Phatmass, but I've been praying for your vocational journey and I wish you all the best. It sounds like you have a great plan in place; and isn't God's will fascinating! So often His will for us takes a very different turn than we imagined, but it always ends up for the best in the end. I'm sure you will be a wonderful priest for Dodge City. Another Curé of Ars, perhaps? ;) Be assured of my continued prayers. :)

The meeting this morning went very wonderfully, and he was very receptive. It's not the easiest Diocese, but since when was it fun for stuff to be easy? TheresaThoma
Sounds like you have a good solid plan in place. Waiting can be hard but it can also be super fruitful. Something else to make sure of is that the credits from the community college will transfer. If at all possible I would run your class schedule by the minor seminary. You don't want to take (and pay for) classes that won't transfer. I ran into that when I transferred universities. Even though both were really good they wouldn't accept a few of my credits for some odd reason.

I have a seminarian friend from the diocese I wanted to apply in who wants to see me sometime this weekend so we can discuss what I should do. I'm still not sold on going to Dodge City, especially after hearing some of the major fault lines in the diocese from a seminarian there a few days ago.
