BarbTherese
Having been in religious life, I know that community life can be no bed of roses at times. But the same applies out here in secular society. I am trying to work through a difficult situation at the moment with my foster son and his fiancée. And I have something else cropping up on the horizon which means that I will need to work through a difficult situation with a workmate, which possibly could create strained personal relationships. I have been reflecting that The Lord indeed does provide for our very best interests and sanctification, whether one is in religious life or in lay secular life. Comparing the two states of life - and as one more difficult, or easier, than the other (and especially where relationships are concerned) is beside the point I think, which is The Lord providing for our sanctification who called us to our vocation in the first place and no matter what that vocation might be. It seems to me that it is a matter of fully investing in one's vocation with confident trust in The Lord. It is understanding what exactly our vocation does entail. That wasn't hard to write at all really, or even any inspiration to occur to me.........it's the day to day living out that can be the very real challenge. arfink
That's very true. Any situation which takes "me" and changes the context to "us," is going to be incredibly challenging to do in a Christ-like way, because it will inevitably require the ultimate in self-sacrifice. As human beings, we have the option to make "us" work by bludgeoning others and basically consuming them like an amoeba that devours everything it touches. Pretty easy. But communion, the holy co-union of people, no matter if it's religious community or marriage or just being out and about in the world at large, it's always hard. marigold
I still don't understand why I can't have everything that I want - or why people do things contrary to their assigned role in my life. SULK.
