Is it just me, or does anyone else get the impression that CC comes off as a 15 yr old girl, who gets all her news from Facebook and Colbert on YouTube. Her parents named her Harmony Bliss, and her grandfather went to Canada to avoid the draft in the 70's.

To be fair, Colbert is more accurate and honest than most news stations.

To be fair, Colbert is amesome!

Also, I used to wish my name was Samantha...my parents are amesome, and my grandpa served in WWII as well as my uncle served and died in Vietnam...never got to meet him. :(

Born and raised Republican...but I have recently switched allegiances to "not giving a floop about party lines".

If realizing the reality of the poo going on in Washington is 15yr old  mentality, then Ill gladly accept it.

Peace & Love my friend.

To be accurate, you are only stating your opinion generated via conjecture with limited and uncertified input, Moon Dew.

Partners haha yeah! its easy to be willing when the big corporations are handing you checks the size of the moon. Its very depressing. And I am sure you are right about them not reading that summaries...Thats why I wish government was filled with people with more diverse backgrounds...people who actually have the smarts to realize this ish is happening and have the balls to do something about it.

I've worked with a lot of people with diverse backgrounds. That doesn't prevent people from cooperating, whether for good or for evil.

And that money comes from a banking monopoly. Created by the government. I'd say one of the biggest problems is a shared belief in the State.

Whether nature, nurture, or choice, you are usually pleasantly amusing. ;).

My mom thinks so too

How would an anarcho-capitalist society deal with this issue?

By the collapse of a cooperative and technologically advanced culture. We'd definitely stop consuming very quickly.

 cooperative

You must have a different understanding of cooperation. I tend to think that threats of initiation of violence destroy cooperation.

If all cooperation is completely voluntary in an anarcho-capitalist system, how can there be any cooperation when difficult situations arise?

Cooperation: An act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit.

Cooperation may or may not be intentional or voluntary. Even with Ponies.

What do you mean by "difficult situations"?

I work with 13 other people on a regular basis. None of them were forced to take the job they took, which involves risks to life and health in the short and long term. If they don't perform their duties, they might be sanctioned or fired, but they will not be threatened with violence.

Soldiers often volunteer for war. War seems pretty difficult.

Catholic Charities, to my knowledge, doesn't threaten people with violence if they don't donate. They are so effective that governments enlist their help. They deal with  difficult situations, too.

Partners is a better word. They're willing participants. I'd love to know which politicians actually believe in anthropogenic climate change, rather than just using it as a tool to gain power. I have a hard time believing that most of them have read the summary of the studies, much less the study itself. I've read a bit here and there.

I've always seen the cynicism going the other way.  Environmental groups don't have the cash that coal companies do.  So you have a political apparatus/campaign that understands that global warming is a serious issue but they'll still decide to come out pro-coal because they need the money or need to appear strong on jobs.  I've seen that numerous times.  I've never seen anybody feign concern over climate change.

I think there's a distinction to be made between working with someone and working under them. "Cooperation" is mutual. If it's forced, that mutuality is damaged. Someone might well choose to submit to an attacker, but I wouldn't really call that "cooperation". I know it's commonly used to signify obedience to an authority figure under threat of violence. I think that's a real coup for the thugs.

I'm sure there are as many motivations as there are people involved.

I wouldn't expect that one always catches a feint. That's why people keep doing it. Concern doesn't necessarily equal understanding.

Being sanctioned or fired is a form of violence against them, as without pay they will be unable to procure the things needed to survive. If you're being made to cooperate by having a paycheck held over your head, then your cooperation is not completely voluntary.

We see lots of instances of voluntary cooperation, but we see many instances too where people refuse to voluntarily cooperate to the detriment of other people besides themselves. In these situations a legal system of lawful coercion and even violence seems to be necessary. Human beings have relied on this method for centuries and have found nothing else to replace it yet.
