AugustineA
Yes you four eyes. I walked into a heavy glass door and damaged my glasses. The cord which runs along the bottom of the lens pulled up and sent a tiny crack along the bottom of each lens. It was not visible to the eye until dust and grime caught inside the crack. They are my favourite glasses. I had them ordered from Sweden and I would like to wear them again. Does anyone have a way of cleaning them? I was considering soaking them in some sort of solution, but I do not know if that will hurt the coating on the lens.
truthfinder
Hmmm, I guess you mean the lenses are cracked. In which case, I don't think there's anything you can do about cleaning them. Cleaning may actually make the crack worse. I'm assuming the frameless by your description. You can probably keep the glasses, but you'll have to go get new lenses put in (any local place that sells glasses should be able to do this for you.) (Maybe you need a new prescription too to keep you from walking into things :) )
MIKolbe
my advice is not to run into things... you have 4 eyes, use them.
arfink
I think a good glasses shop should be able to put new lenses in the frames. That said, there are preparations you can put onto lenses to cover scratches and such. Are the lenses acrylic or glass?
Spem in alium
Yes, most glasses shops will likely replace the lenses if you want to keep the frames. You could also go to one of these shops and ask about solutions or wipes you could use - I'd probably do that before trying anything myself. It's probably safer that you get them repaired rather than just clean the crack, in my opinion.
SilentJoy
...but I do not know if that will hurt the coating on the lens. Isn't this a moot point by now?
maximillion
An arm fell off my glasses yesterday and I didn't notice. Now I will have to have that long overdue eye exam and get new specs.

AnneLine
I walked into a glass door and killed my glasses. Actually, I walked into a glass WALL at a mall... there were no markings or anything to show the wall OR the edge of the walk aka the doorway. Walked into it with my shoulder and the edge of my glasses at full steam ahead mode. Bounced off the plexiglass like an outtake from the StarTrek videos (sorry for the poor quality video... only one I could find...) In my case... Glasses literally went flying... I found myself literally shaking my head and trying to figure out what had happened for a few seconds. THEN I saw the wall. Store staff saw me bounce and got all embarrassed and rushed to put up a display in the giant blank area of glass that I had walked into (it was where the manikin in jeans and the lady on the higher box are standing in the photo....) I was OK, and I thought the glasses were too... but... About 2 hours later, the frames cracked and the lens fell out of the (of course) expensive frame... which was not able to be fixed. Yup... I been there and had the broken glasses to prove it... it wasn't this store, but it was the same door and window config..... ouch it hurt! Hope you were able to get YOUR glasses fixed! ChristinaTherese
Well... since I've walked into a pillar (it hurt, I hit it with my nose or some such, and I did not need new glasses I just needed to pay attention) and my door (it was dark though, because I'd just turned off the light so I could go back outside and see the stars), I didn't really wonder how that happens....
