I Am No Longer A D.c. Resident

I got on the train back to NC at 1pm.  Now I'm at my parent's.  Staying here a few days before moving to the Triangle area.  Start a new job in a couple of weeks.  It's a campaign job.  So longer hours and less pay but I'll feel a little better about myself and it's a stepping stone to living the sort of life I want to live.

This feels weird.

Nihil Obstat

I seen things, mannnn

I have heard an insidious rumour that some politicians are rather unscrupulous and may actually say dishonest things or do things that some might consider immoral in order to get elected and stay in power. Can you confirm or deny?

Headed back to a pretty awesome part of NC!  :)  (And I imagine less pay still trumps the rent...)

I can confirm that private economic interests exert a powerful influence on the political process and that elected officials are basically one component of an extremely complex system.

step off, prairie boy.

No, it's quite literally a hellhole. Have you seen the moral scandals that go on there?

Congratulations on escaping that hellhole.

It's a lovely city.  Unless you're a poorer resident being pushed out by gentrification.  But it is a nice city.  Lot's of interesting people too.  It's just also full of entitled rich folk and people of ambition with an unhealthy relationship to power.

In that case we all live in literal hellholes.

I was in DC 5 years. It's a regular city you know. They have dental hygienists and stuff like that.  Its not all intrigue and prostitution rings.

I'm biased though because its my favorite place.

But I thought Oklahoma was worse in terms of depravity.

The thing I really hate about DC is the traffic. It puts me into a rage. I visit NoVA fairly regularly, but avoid DC if I can help it. lol
