Fidei Defensor
The Resistance is for anyone struggling with sins of impurity of any kind! This is a throwback to the way old days. Feel free to share your victories, ask for prayers in your defeat, and work together with others to remain pure and chaste!
Fidei Defensor
I have been pure for 25 days now. Mary, Mother of God, pray for me!

Fidei Defensor
This...might be a little far for me. It's okay. We used to have a similar thread years ago. Join in if you'd like, or simply come to pray for others and ask prayers for yourself. Whatever you're comfortable with. I just remember it being a great help to some people knowing that there were others also struggling with the same issues.

4588686
Same difference. At least pertaining to this topic. Doesn't the Church have more important battles to fight than convincing 15 year olds to to touch themselves?

There is always time to recognize the struggles of mastering one's will that we may always do the will of the Lord instead.

Fidei Defensor
Oy I'll take that as "Yes, Jared, you are correct!"
AugustineA
Yes Jared your correct. We can carry on with ocular justice issues all we want. Without striving for sainthood ourselves, it's all just hot air and politics. I feel like I've made huge progress. Even just every day in terms of how I interact or think about girls I find attractive. Ever since I started going to this traditional parish. Daily prayer helps. I used to lament that it didn't work but wasn't sincerely giving it my best. :)
AugustineA
Also I think going to the gym daily and staying in a healthy place helps. Though I was doing that before Edited April 30, 2014 by AugustineA

Doesn't the Church have more important battles to fight than convincing 15 year olds to to touch themselves? Everything having to do with humans is important to the Church. The whole business of the Church is the restoration of humans to what they were created for. Humans were not meant to feel themselves up--- and there are more important things to do with your hands, like feeding the poor and lifting humans up from where they have fallen. Lilllabettt
after many attempts to "get clean" I now have 10 years behind me. thanks be to God. freedom is amazing. Shame and repression ftw! Ohhh admit it. you just wish you had the guts.
Seven77
I think the battle begins by purifying the imagination and getting that very important mental faculty in line. I've been thinking about the imagination-- it goes all over the place if unchecked. Sometimes I get all OCD about what I said, what others said about me, how it would be nice to be like so-and-so or do this or that other thing. Basically, it is when my imagination begins to wander and fantasize at the expense of the present moment and drift from reality that the problems start. The imagination is the "madman of the house" when it is left unchecked as St. Teresa of Avila said. I think that praying the rosary is effective in getting the mind in order. When you use the imagination in the way that it was intended to be used, purity increases..
