He successfully organized the Holy League against the Ottoman Turks in defence of Europe, declared St. Thomas Aquinas a doctor of the Church, standardized the Roman Rite across Europe, presided over the counter reformation, condemned the heresies in England and France, and rebuked powerful Church leaders who sought positions and wealth for their relatives. He is also responsible for the tradition of Popes wearing white cassocks and the promulgation of the Roman catechism and Roman missal, which is still used and celebrated by traditional Catholics everyday the world over.
