Why Don't Catholic Bibles Use Septuagint?

Many point out that Christ and His Apostles, when citing the Old Testament, make use of the Septuagint Old Testament rather than Hebrew Old Testament.  In fact OT passages that are cited in the New Testament sometimes do not even match up in most Catholic Bibles.  This is because Catholic Bibles do not use the Septuagint.

Despite there being 3 versions of the Septuagint and a bit of recension (as with all manuscripts of any kind anywhere), you would think the Church would still use a combination of all three rather than use a version Christ and the Apostles almost never cited.

Why don't Catholic Bibles use the Septuagint?

Happy Easter

Because we're the Whore of Babylon and we worship Satan.

Because we are a Church based on tradition and Scripture. If you are really interested in the answer to this question, I am sure you could easily go through all of the councils and figure out which one chose exactly what we are to use. I want to say the Council of Nicea, but that's just an off the top of my head guess.

if you can read french you should have a look at this: L'Écriture sainte subsiste en plusieurs formes canoniques simultanées (holy scripture subsists in several canonical forms at the same time). pope benedict cited it in the infamous regensburg address (wherein he set off a firestorm of controversy over remarks about islam).
