PhuturePriest
So, as some of you bored enough to remember know, I had my very first showcase today after a year of learning how to become a ballroom and swing dance instructor. My studio, Care To Dance, celebrated its 8 year anniversary today, so we put on a show of 17 dances, a ball, and even some entertainment with all of us at the end. I did west coast swing to Michael Buble's Feelin' Good. If you're wondering why the dude on the stage was particularly happy with my stuff, he's my dance instructor, so he's quite biased. :P I only made one mistake, and it was one I hadn't made all day while we were practicing. At the very beginning I do a spin, and all day it was squeaky clean, but there was something on the floor and it stopped my spin at the end. Thankfully, it looked a lot better than I thought it did when I was dancing, and when I asked everybody they said they didn't even notice it. Note: at the beginning the camera is VERY shaky, but as soon as I dance it gets a lot more stable. Unfortunately, it didn't show the aerial at the end very well, but you guys get the idea of what happened. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOor8bP1hU8&feature=youtu.be My partner, Shannon, was absolutely amazing, and I couldn't have had a better partner. She was really kind and very talented, and I certainly hope this isn't the last showcase we do together. This is me and my amazing dance instructor, Jason, who I am very sad to say is moving to Austin, Texas on May 22nd. I'm going to be taught from now on by my partner's husband, however, and he is very amazing and did three breathtaking dances with his students tonight. And of course, this is me and my amazing partner, Shannon. Edited April 27, 2014 by FuturePriest387

HisChildForever
I liked it! My only suggestion for the future--SMILE! You maintained a very serious facial expression. Be more expressive! Your partner had a lovely smile.

I<3fran and I were watching this at the nunnery earlier today :p

Your partner had a lovely smile. Oh, I know. I had so many things to remember though that something as superficial as smiling wasn't my main priority. Not killing her in the aerial was more important, for instance. :P And honestly, I pretty much blacked out while doing it. I only remember small seconds of random parts. I was talking to an instructor afterwards and he says that's normal, though. Yeah I agree. Really cool for only six months of dancing, though! I<3fran and I were watching this at the nunnery earlier today :P Six months? I've been taking private dance lessons since February of 2013. :P Though admittedly most of the first six months were all focused about the theory of dancing, rather than dancing itself. He wanted to teach me the theory first because he's teaching me to be a dance instructor. I'm getting a university-level education in dance for a fraction of a fraction of the cost of college. PhuturePriest
OH I see. Fran must have lied to me :P Still good, though. I liked the aerial. Thank you! I think my two favorite parts were the aerial and the epic spin I did halfway through.
HisChildForever
I really liked 2:25ish where it looked like your partner rolled off you.
PhuturePriest
I really liked 2:25ish where it looked like your partner rolled off you. My favorite parts were the epic slide I did at 1:19, the impeccably amazing spin I have no clue how I pulled off at 2:06, and of course the aerial at the very end.
