ThereseMaria
What are you using for studying Japanese? This is something that I have been thinking about. http://www.learn-japanese.info/indexw.html This is what I was using - I use a specific app now, but this website is good because it has all 3 writing systems, how to write the characters and pronunciation, plus grammar, vocabulary, etc. I use anime to learn bits and pieces of Japanese - because pretty much all of the anime I watch is subbed, I just pick up words and phrases. Also, I have a friend who is also learning Japanese, so we use a mixture of English and Japanese when we are talking over email - these are just a few things that I do. I don't study it too seriously, but I might end up going to Japan as an exchange student in the next few years, so I'm trying to learn a little bit at a time. Sometimes when I am going to be up late writing a paper, I take a show that I've seen several times already, and I just put it in (with the sub track), and let it play all the way through. I'll look up every few minutes, watch for a few seconds, and I can follow the story more or less with that, and having seen it a bunch already. I've found that to be really relaxing, and it helps me concentrate. Last show I did that with was True Tears, which also has a good soundtrack and amesome artwork, so it really kept me on task while I was writing my paper. That's a really good idea!!! I usually just watch shows that I know are dubbed, but that is a really good idea. And that's another anime to go on my list...
DemonSlayer
One of my friends prefers dubbed anime, so I think she waits significantly longer for that. I really hate it when anything is dubbed, unless they can't read, why would anyone prefer that to subs?

I cannot think of anyone I know who is really into anime who likes dubbed. In my experience there is an overwhelming preference for subbed. So I guess you are normal. :hehe2:

ThereseMaria
Hmmm... Most of the things that can possibly go wrong in one's life has happened to either me or my friends over the past 2 months, particularly the past 2 weeks... Whenever I think that things might get better, it gets bad again. It's horrible. None of my friends deserve the stuff they are going through, and I can't deal with it when my friends are dealing with so much... If it happens to me, I can deal with it. I'm protective of my friends though, so it drives me insane when they have to suffer. I mean, teenage drama and being dumped is one thing, but depression and cutting and divorce and other horrible things - NO ONE should have to deal with that. No one. I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemies. I'm not a happy person right now... I wish things would just get better for them.
ChristinaTherese
I'll pray for your friends. And have you been able to get to Mass at all lately?
ThereseMaria
I'll pray for your friends. And have you been able to get to Mass at all lately? Thank you! And other than a Mass or two with the school, I haven't really had a chance to... It's been pretty turbulent at home lately, so I've been dealing with that. Plus it looks like I have a new "admirer" (bully)... Which doesn't bug me a whole lot. He doesn't even come close to what I've dealt with in the past. So in short, a lot of stuff has happened, and so I haven't had a chance to go to Mass or Reconciliation (I really should though...)

AnneLine
Hang in there, ThereseMaria.... be gentle to yourself. It's hard to support others when they are going through things and you can't keep the things from happening. Best thing you can do is to be there for them.... but to do that you have to take care of yourself. Praying for you... put a prayer request in the Prayer Room if you haven't already done that... then you will get a LOT of people praying for you.... ThereseMaria
I just saw the St. Therese photobombing thread. She just became 5x more awesome. Also, I was thinking... (If this is wrong, someone tell me very quickly), Jesus is God and human, so while He's perfect in the sense He's never sinned (duh), I was thinking... Do you think it was possible that He might have made mistakes like, say, not hammering a nail in properly (when He was a carpenter), or maybe stubbing His toe or tripping? Tell me if that's disrespectful, but I'm honestly curious, does anyone think He might have done stuff like that? And the same thing with Mary - she was human, too, so she would have has to learn stuff like cooking, cleaning, sewing... Might it have been possible that she could have made mistakes like we might make when we're learning new things...? Random thought. Correct me if I'm being disrespectful, or something similar. Obviously Jesus and Mary never sinned, nor had original sin, but I still wonder if they made human mistakes (not moral mistakes, but you know...) AnneLine
Now maybe one of the professionally trained theologians will correct me, but it seems to me that Jesus and Mary must have seemed pretty ordinary to the others in Nazareth. I can't imagine any carpenter who never banged his thumb... or any woman who hasn't burned herself (and/or the dinner!) at least once. None of that is sinful... but it IS part of the human condition. and Jesus Christ was true Man as well as True God... not a God in a human suit, nor a human in a God suit. He was/is both simultaneously. Which tells me how much He loves us.... as St. Paul says (Phil 2:6-8): Though he was in the form of God, Jesus did not deem equality with God something to be grasped at. Rather, he emptied himself and took the form of a slave being born in the likeness of men. He was known to be of human estate, and it was thus that he humbled himself, obediently accepting even death, death on a cross. What awesome love for us that shows, that He would choose to live as one of us... banged thumbs and growling stomach and all the rest.. for love of us... I would think both Jesus and Mary totally understand the mistakes and errors we make from mere human frailty as opposed to a choice to do evil.... but all can be helpful in learning to approach God from a standpoint of true humility... seeing things the way God sees them. Thank you for explaining that! It was just a random thought I had. I'm having trouble imagining Jesus or Mary reacting to stubbing their toe. Or Mary burning dinner. Or Jesus accidentally hitting His thumb when He was working on a project. But it's kin of cool to think that they might have done stuff like that, too! Another random thought: to anyone who saw my intention in the Prayer Room and prayed for me and my family, thank you! We got the house, so we've just been packing. Thank you! And thank God. We were all really nervous, so it's a huge relief...
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I say go off the holy bible " drukardness is evil." It is very easy to get drunk from marijuana and drunk is not just blacking out. I think GODS purpose for it is that it is a medicine not to be used for fun or just chillen same as opium. But what are it's medicinal properties i know not although i do know it is a very powerful pain killer and good for people to use that are allergic to opiuts. I also think many have an allergic reaction to such things as marijuana, opium and cocus, whether that is in built in people or a consequence of misuse i don't know, perhaps GOD removes the allergic reaction if such plants are used for there designated GOD given purpose. Though i guess the same as anything some people are just outright allergic. God is GOOD ( all the time) including his creation of marijuana.
