ThereseMaria
Name of the band? Red (it's a Christian alternative rock band.) My favourite song on the album is Run and Escape. Just on the bus home from the conference... Another one of my friends is refusing to acknowledge my existence for no reason. Probably because her popular friends were there and as she said once, she doesn't want to be seen with me (not even kidding). Wonderful. Other than that little bit of drama, the day was good - I found out that I really like computer programming. I coded my first program!!!

ThereseMaria
Perhaps it's a hidden massage from the LORD that we need to church and not just go to church. :) We must church every weekend. OR ELSE. We must practice the churching of women every weekend. How often do we practice the churching of women, anyways...? And Tab'le De'Bah-Rye is on to something here... (I'm gonna go on a religious rant for a moment.) This kind of reminds me of the story of a bride and groom who get married on Sunday, yet only spend time together on Sundays, but are off doing other things during the week... the story is a metaphor for our relationship with God, and the moral is that we should practice our faith not only on Sunday, but during the rest of the week too.... Then the saying that we need to be conformed to Christ... It's an interesting thought. I mean, what if EVERYONE practiced their faith 24/7? How loving and joyful would the world be? If current Catholics began living this way, then other people would come to Christ too, because they would see our joy, and they would desire that same joy... It would be like the domino effect!!! (Ok, when I was typing that, I linked St. Dominic and dominoes. And I guess they do link, and not just because the names are similar... That's kind of another rant..) Ok, I'm done. Now I will go study. I have finals coming up in a few weeks, and I haven't done any studying at all...

ThereseMaria
Also, I was thinking... I used to watch a lot of anime, but a little while ago, I stopped because I didn't know if that was appropriate for someone who was discerning... Does anyone have any insight as to whether I should be able to watch anime or not...?

ThereseMaria
That is like asking if you should watch movies. Or read books. The answer is a further question: which ones? That's what I was thinking... The reason why I would ask that is because there are very few appropriate anime shows... (At least, that I've seen... Even the most appropriate ones seem to have some questionable content...)

ThereseMaria
Oh my gooishness!!! I love Skillet!!!! Like I really mean LOVE!!!  :dance5: SERIOUSLY?! YES (you are like my twin...) The only 3 bands I have on my phone are Red, Skillet and Tenth Avenue North. I love heavy metal/alternative rock music, but I do like other genres too, depending on the lyrics and how it sounds... Nihil Obstat
That's what I was thinking... The reason why I would ask that is because there are very few appropriate anime shows... (At least, that I've seen... Even the most appropriate ones seem to have some questionable content...) I am aware of a good few to be avoided, but far more that are worthwhile overall. Depending on one's maturity level of course, and particular interest. Just off the top of my head, Sakamichi no Apollon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_on_the_Slope http://youtu.be/HloKLU1SRJQ Also, Haibane Renmei. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haibane_renmei http://youtu.be/wApAEg0ErgE Besides that, there is questionable content, and there is questionable content. Not all are created equal. It is easy to paint with an overly broad brush and tend towards scrupulosity. That being said, if one felt that their vocation would be better served by - as a sacrifice - giving up all television and computer, then I would not be inclined to argue. But there is nothing inherent in anime as an extremely (overly) broad genre that makes it any different from what anyone else watches. I would also recommend Catholics avoid watching, just as a for instance, the movie Antichrist (and no, I have not watched it. I have read a synopsis. Please do not do the same). But just because that particular horror movie is uniquely incompatible with Catholic morality I would not thereby conclude that all horror movies should be avoided. In fact I would highly recommend that Catholics watch The Exorcism of Emily Rose and, if they are sufficiently mature and properly prepared and catechized, The Exorcist. I've seen Haibane Renmei before, it was really good, but as far as I've seen, it's one of a kind... I know of a good forum that rates anime based off content, so I might go check out anime on there before I watch any of it...
