ChristinaTherese
So, do you mean that you are normally not allowed to go to Mass at all, or that you simply are unable to get to your parish very often? Or that some problem has come up only recently?
ThereseMaria
So, do you mean that you are normally not allowed to go to Mass at all, or that you simply are unable to get to your parish very often? Or that some problem has come up only recently? I'm the only Catholic in my immediate family, and so my parents don't understand the importance of going to Mass. If I go to the evening Mass on Sundays, then I can go to Reconciliation before Mass, but my parents don't like that because then they have to come get me at 9-ish, which apparently throws off the schedule (I really don't see how it does.) They said I can go to morning Masses, but I tried that before, they always slept in. And so I usually have to fight to be allowed to go, which I hate doing. And on top of it, my dad doesn't want me to go to Mass at all, because he doesn't want me to go all "crazy religious" or something like that. So yeah, a mixture of factors. I could walk or ride my bike to church, but it's on the other end of town, about 4.5km (Just a bit over 2 miles), and it's at the top of a huge hill. I could do it, but my parents would also be opposed to me doing that at night because it's unsafe. I think I'm going to talk to some different people at school and see if they could drive me, but I don't know exactly how to phrase that... So yeah, it's kind of a tough situation. I go to Reconciliation and Mass whenever I can, though.
SilentJoy
:cry3: I'm sorry, ThereseMaria. Who was your sponsor - there's no possibility they'd help out?
ChristinaTherese
There should be friendly adults around somewhere who could give you a ride to Mass.... It could be awkward to ask random people, and largely fruitless, but maybe if you asked your parish priest/secretary you could get some advice about who to ask? You might feel awkward, but I'll bet that a door could open up and people might be really friendly and helpful. And asking friends from school is a great idea too. Go do it! By sponsor, I'm assuming you mean my Confirmation sponsor... I haven't been confirmed yet, I hope to next year, though. I know the family across the road goes to church, I don't know which one, though... OOH I just thought of a teacher who I've seen at Mass before. Thanks for the support, both of you :) It's sad, but at the same time, the saints went through a lot more! I know that God will provide. And I do have an option, in, well... about a year and a half now. When I get my driver's license, I can drive up for Mass, and for Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesdays, too! To be honest, that's the only reason I want to be able to drive.
ThereseMaria
Jeez... I'm having one of those days where everything is NOT working... It's kind of interesting though, the thought of my possible religious vocation is a pretty great source of joy for me today. There's a lot going on, but when I think about religious life, it just fills me with absolute joy... And then of course, thinking about how AWESOME God is. And I need a better word than awesome. No language in the world comes close to giving an adequate term to describe God... Thinking about His love definitely makes my whole day seem a bit better, because I know that even though it kinda sucked, I know that God was walking with me throughout the whole day <3 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters; He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for His name's sake. - Psalm 23:1-3 (NRSV)

HOWEVER, what is a struggle is my mom is a Catholic-phobe and hater. >sigh< Such is life.
ThereseMaria
-Margaret Teresa: same here, but my dad is the Catholic hater... The only reason I'm excited to be able to drive in a year and a half is because then I can go to Mass AND Eucharistic Adoration <3 OMGOSH this morning we had to walk to school, and it was raining... My brother counted over 900 worms in less than 3/4 of a mile. It was insane. Anyways. Random moment.
ThereseMaria
I HAVE A JOB NOW... I'm babysitting. My new boss was like, "And then on Monday after babysitting, you can tell me how much you want to charge for your services" and I said "Uhm.... I never thought about that." I don't think I should be paid for it... But everyone else thinks otherwise. I'm so excited!!! Time to get to work planning.
ThereseMaria
And I don't know what to charge. I'm only babysitting two kids (ages 4 and 9) for an hour, and it's basically just putting them to bed... Based off that, I think that even $4 (Canadian dollars) is too much... ChristinaTherese
I kind of know the feeling. I did some work for my mom, which consisted in nothing of value other than being able to be of service if anyone actually showed up to be served. (I still haven't given her an invoice.... I think I'll do that right now, since the people paid her for my time and I'd rather have the money for my time than leave it with her.) But still, it feels so strange to be paid for doing so little.By the way, have you found anyone who can give you a ride to Mass on Sundays yet? I haven't, but I think I'll look into the cost for a taxi... It sounds ridiculous, but I only have a year and a half left until I can get my driver's license, and I now have 2 jobs, so I could potentially make it work... ThereseMaria
And I just got to try on some wedding dresses. One belonged to my grandma, the other to my great-grandma. They're so pretty :D <
ThereseMaria
My parents got new phones today, so I got my dad's old iPhone... Trying to figure out how to use it, but I got a couple new books today too, so if I get too frustrated, I just put the phone down and read for a bit... I miss my cute little Blackberry!!! :'( I think I'll like it once I get used to it...
ThereseMaria
I got to school today, and found out that we had a Mass to celebrate the canonization of (now) St. John Paul II. I was excited, but also really upset that no one told me before today... BAD day to decide to wear sweatpants to school... But it was an awesome mass! The homily was really awesome. Too bad no one in the school seems to care enough to listen, Father had a lot of good points... It was really awesome! I also had a Social Studies test today, I did ok on it... and then I had some really hilarious troubles with autocorrect on my phone, but I can't turn it off... AND tomorrow I get to go to an IT conference at a really nice post-secondary school, so I'm pretty excited about that, too... I think I'm going to the Graphic Design and Computer Programming sessions, we signed up as soon as the registration opened, so I think I should get the sessions I asked for. I'm not sure though. And of course, add in a couple of awkward moments with people who don't like me... It's been a fun week, to say the least! (Oh and my favorite band released a new album, the first song on it is AMAZING!!! I'm really excited about it, it's an awesome album).
