CountrySteve21
For those inclined to add Latin to the Liturgy of the Hours, here's a site with a lot of the Latin Hymns http://www.preces-latinae.org/thesaurus/Hymni.html Pax! AccountDeleted
Can anyone tell me where to get the sheet music for the English hymns in the Liturgy of the Hours. I don't know about all the hymns since some convents use their own hymn books but Stanbrook Abby does print a hymnal. I don't know what's in it except that we did use some of their music when I was in Carmel. http://www.stanbrookabbeybookshop.com/STANBROOK-ABBEY-HYMNAL This is a link for the hymnal in their bookshop but they have several website versions happening and oyu may need to hunt around for a more up to date one. PS I know this is an old topic but I was just browsing and came across this post. Edited April 7, 2015 by nunsense
The camel
The Stanbrook Abbey Hymnal was a very early attempt to produce English hymns for the monastic office. Most of the better ones from it, and much else, are in Hymns for Prayer and Praise, produced by the Panel of Monastic Musicians - http://www.monasticmusicians.org/hpp.php IMHO little in it reaches the sublime excellence of the Latin office hymns, but there we are.
