Benedictus
It does seem strange, much of the neo-nazi anti-jew stuff I've heard coming out of Ukraine was all previously centered in western Ukraine, and alined with the new government. Most western media outlets never reported those events. This was my thought as well. Part of the Russian opposition towards the new government in Kiev was that it is has allowed right wing Nazi types to get a foot hold into power over Ukraine. But this in the east could simply be the result of having local instability, and various groups fighting for control. I've no idea whether Russia is fuelling what is happening in the east of Ukraine or not. in some ways they don't need to do so as there is a large ethnic Russian speaking population there who give affinity to Russia regardless. I take all media reports with a pinch of salt, but it is a concerning development. The country definately needs our prayers.
BigJon16
i don't agree with that. If someone refuses to read anything about what is posted and forms their opinion off of nothing, then they really have no ground at all. Sorry but you have to have read something about the topic at hand to be taken seriously with your opinion. You've obviously never spent much time on the internet...people do it all the time. Not saying its right, but people do do it. Also, what is happening in Ukraine is much more than just one article, its a whole situation with thousands of different viewpoints. If someone is knowledgable in the facts of the situation as a whole, I don't see why they can't have a viewpoint even though they didn't read one little article.. Either way, you're obviously right and I'm obviously wrong, so don't waste a post trying to prove it.

4588686
So the Russian Federation is anti-Semitic? Please. More like this is opposing propaganda to rally support against the Russians. Yeah. There is strong rise of anti-semitism generally in the Russian Federation. There has been a rise of fascist/white-supremacist groups in Russia generally in the last few decades. Benedictus
Yeah. There is strong rise of anti-semitism generally in the Russian Federation. There has been a rise of fascist/white-supremacist groups in Russia generally in the last few decades. True, but not unique. All countries have neo nazi elements. It has been said the US had the most in the world, that doesn't make the US government fascist. I think it's interesting that in the middle of a civil uprising, and potential war, where people have died the media focuses on the actions of a few men handing out anti-Semitic fliers. It could have been anyone who handed them out, even a political ploy by those who want to undermine the pro-Russian elements, and the Russian federation by association. One of the easiest ways to gain American, Israeli, and European support is to claim rebels have an anti-Semitic agenda. I don't think Russia, or any sensible local groups, would plan a strategy against Jews because, for political reasons, they'd not want this extra negative attention. It would also undermine what Putin has claimed against those with power in Kiev. Until it becomes clear locally that any specific groups and elements are using violence, taking land or doing more planned things against the Jewish population then we can't know who's to blame, or whether this is sensationalist storm in a tea cup media reporting. Having seen how the media report against the Vatican, and other elements they don't like, I'm always wary of what they say (and why).
