Credo in Deum
FOR THE MEN Did/do you imagine your bride in a traditional dress? Would you not only support her but defend her wearing something different? (to family/friends) Do you feel traditions are more important than feelings? Yes. Yes, provided it is modest and shows respect for Our Lord and the Sacrament. Yes.
Slappo
I'll show you two particular gowns that I really, really like. I would never wear a wedding gown that is long-sleeved and goes up to my throat. That's just me. I really like that first one
AveMariaPurissima
FP, I absolutely LOVE your sister's wedding dress!!!! If it turns out that it's God's will for me to get married, that's the kind of dress I want!
AnneLine
Find something you like, that your fiance likes, and that won't totally blow MOST of the congregation out of the pews (you'll NEVER make veryone happy....) and you'll do fine. All you want is something that makes you feel BEAUTIFUL.... and that won't distract you during the ceremony. I found one after looking a LONG time... and it made me feel simply beautiful. Never have seen one before or since remotely like it... but it worked for me.... YOU CAN DO IT!!!! And... I passed the word among ALL the women in the room that I had every intention of taking off my shoes for the reception, and they were ALL welcome to join me. WE HAD HAPPY FEET!!!!!! marigold
The train obviously isn't nearly long enough! ;-) The history of the white wedding dress extends way back when it was a sign of money. Basically it was a way of saying "I have so much money I can buy an expensive dress that I will only wear once". At least that's what I remember reading when my wife and I were talking about wedding dresses. She did choose to go with the decked out white wedding dress, but her's was not sleeveless, low cut, or anything like that. It was full length with a super long train, full sleeves, and about a collarbone neckline if I recall correctly. I was told Queen Victoria started it. 4LoveofJMJ
I don't know how non-traditional you want your dress but this one is pretty.
